We are having a break from a Sept/October Zimbabwe Safari this year, as Kate and I are heading for Asia and Australia from Mid Sept to Mid Nov.

This year following our visit to Zim in February I have been working on another project with my contacts around Hwange National Park, which I aim to launch later this month!

Despite the lush green bush, we had a successful game drive this morning at Robins Camp in Hwange National Park. Highlights were a rare sighting of a single Painted Dog, which had been left to guard the den, a magnificent bull Roan Antelope and a noisy school of Hippos! Thanks to the Team at Robins for looking after us so well!

Kate & I are back in Zimbabwe! Normally I visit in Sept/Oct so it's lovely to be here in February after the first rains when already everything is green and lush (certainly here at Vic Falls)!
The Falls are throwing so much more water into the gorge compared to last October when the whole Zambian half of the Falls were virtually dry!

Having worked hard on our game drives during our 4 days in Hwange, it was time for a few days R&R back at Victoria Falls. Back in the Zambezi River for the Sunset (booze) Cruise to see cavorting elephants, big Crocs and another amazing Sunset! Everyone back and accounted for 👌😄!

One of the highlights of our African Adventure was finding three separate groups of Rhinos in Matobos National Park. We spotted a female with calf and the Bull as we drove out of the Park on our way back to Hwange via Khami Ruins, the site of a 500 year old stone city!
Back in Hwange it was time for some serious game spotting. It took us a few days before we saw Lions but as our Bush Eyes became sharper they started to appear and amazingly we say Lions on 4 occasions in one day!

We've left Vic Falls for now and after a memorable couple of days staying at the beautiful in Hwange National Park we have driven south to Bulawayo and the granite dome hills and megaliths of Matobos National Park, where this morning we were taken in on foot to see White Rhinos!

Welcome to our 'Magic of Zimbabwe' Tour 2023! It's our first full day, and we have been out early this morning to see the incredible Victoria Falls, followed by some chilled pool time and rounded off with the truly amazing Sunset Dinner Cruise on the mighty Zambezi River! It's a hard gig but someone has to do it. A bonus tonight was an unbelievable red moon! Join us next year for another truly awe- inspiring Zimbabwe adventure!

September/October is the best time to visit Zimbabwe as their summer is beginning and after a dry couple of months the grass is dying back and surface water is drying up which means 1. it is easier to see the wildlife, and 2. they begin to frequent and graze near to the permanent waterholes rather than being spread out all over the African bush hidden by 4 foot tall grass!

This year our Zimbabwe Adventure begins at the magnificent Victoria Falls on 29th September, and our two week trip also takes in Hwange and Matobos National Parks before returning to the Falls for our last few nights. In addition to having the opportunity of seeing aforementioned Falls and the amazing wildlife, with us you will also experience, memorable sunset cruises on the mighty Zambezi River, the ruins of a lost city, ancient bushman cave paintings, tracking Rhino on foot, and a wild animal orphanage.

Our groups are small, 8 max and we stay in comfortable hotels, lodges and villas. We use 4WD vehicles so are not confined to the usual limited tourist routes. What's more is we have fun as we are inclusive and foster a team spirit that we are all in this together - a real African Adventure!

Finally with the introduction of a new carrier, Kenya Airways, flights are available London to Victoria Falls at a more reasonable price and somewhat closer to pre-Covid prices. Yesterday I bought flights at £635 return, rather than the £850-£1050 where prices have been for the last 6 months.

We were 'lucky enough' to see some fantastic wildlife on our recent Zimbabwe trip! Here is a selection.

What a fantastic start we have had to our trip. Yesterday we visited the magnificent Victoria Falls and despite some rumours flying around the UK that the Falls run dry at the height of the 'dry season' rest assured they never run dry and the there is water thundering over the lip of the 100m gorge all year round!

We kept to the water theme in the evening for the Zambezi Sunset Dinner Cruise which was undoubtedly a magical experience for us all!!
To top it all for our first full day we had some nighttime visitors at the Hotel 😁😁

Less than a week to go now before we start our 2022 Zimbabwe Adventure! We land at Victoria Falls and head straight for the wonderful A'Zambezi River Lodge which sits, as the name would suggest, on the banks of the mighty Zambezi River.

It's not unusual at this hotel to have Elephants or Hippos walking past as you are eating dinner, which not surprisingly brings conversation to a halt.......

We start and finish our Safari Adventure at Victoria Falls and whilst there we offer a choice of optional activities which are guaranteed to give you an 'adrenaline rush'!
Three of the most popular activities are White Water Rafting down the Zambezi Rapids which are challenging to say the least, Canoe Safaris where you get fairly up close and personal with Elephants, Hippos and Crocs - not for the faint hearted, and Helicopter Flights over the Falls, an opportunity to see the true magnificence of this natural wonder from a bird's eye view!

The magnificent Victoria Falls are now in full flow, with some 500 million litres of water flowing over the mile long falls every minute!! This can raise a plume of spray a kilometre into the sky but also means viewing can be hindered because of the constant spray and for sure you will get a drenching as you walk along the many viewing points on the 1 mile path that run on the opposite cliff. By September the dry season is already kicking in and the flow reduces to ten of millions of litres per second rather than hundreds, but whatever time of year you go the sight is always breathtaking and lives on in your memory forever!

The Falls are on the mighty Zambezi River which stretches 2700km and through six countries on it's journey to the Indian Ocean.

We start and finish our Zimbabwe Adventure at Victoria Falls, spending our first three nights at the beautiful A'Zambezi River Lodge which is situated adjacent to the river and ensures we are right in the wild despite being in a beautiful hotel!!

We make the most of the location and on the 2nd and last nights of our trip we take to the river for a sunset cruise, the first including 'fine dining' onboard, and on the second, sundowner drinks. Everyone loves these cruises as we gaze upon the amazing wildlife in the river and along its banks, before the Captain expertly navigates us into the perfect position on the river to experience the waters being set 'ablaze' in hues of red and orange as the sun descends in a ball of red fire below the horizon!
