Palenque!!! The word “palenque” means “walled city” and the Palenque de San Basilio is only one of many walled communities that were founded by escaped slaves as a refuge …one of the few communities that isn’t colonized. We at Passport Moms delved into the culture while talking to the Palenque women sharing our stories as mothers, which was one of the biggest highlights of the trip. Through are giving arm Passport Moms Care, we gave bags of food to the mothers, which we were told was the first time. 🫶🏾🫶🏾🫶🏾 We truly enjoyed and loved every part of this experience.
