In February 2018 Georgian mountaineers Archil Badriashvili and Giorgi Tepnadze climbed alpine style for 8 days to establish a new route up Mt. Shkhara (5,203 m), Georgia. In doing so they also made the first winter ascent of the mountain’s 2300 m high South Face.

Upper Svaneti in the Georgian Caucasus really is a stunning area. The town of Mestia is full of character: farm animals still roam the narrow back streets among ancient watch towers, the backdrop to which are some incredible 4000m peaks including Mt Ushba, Mt Layla and, our objective this summer, Mt Tetnuldi.

Happy New Year to all! Today we are pleased to announce a 4th expedition in 2018, this time to the Karakorum Mountains in Pakistan to climb Mingli Sar (6050m), a non-technical peak for which no previous alpine climbing experience is required.

Highlights include crossing the ascent of a 6000m peak, the Hussain Suspension Bridge, driving the hair-raising road to Shimshal, and the legendary Hunza Valley.
