This Canadian luxury stay and dining experience in Explore Waterloo Region has been on my radar for ages. In 2024 alone, Langdon Hall Country House Hotel & Spa was voted the 5th best restaurant in Canada according to Canada's 100 Best, and it just became a recommended restaurant in the MICHELIN Guide in September.

My latest article is all about what you can expect of the incredible restaurant at Langdon Hall. If you're looking for a unique, luxury destination dining experience in Ontario, make it this one!

Langdon Hall Country House Hotel & Spa is more than a one-of-a-kind accommodation. It’s also home to one of Canada’s most recognized restaurants, and has recently earned a Michelin Guide recommendation. This restaurant needs to be on your radar if you have a penchant for delicious, innovative cu

If you love to cycle, get outside and try delicious cuisine along the way, then you have to plan a trip along the Veloroute Gourmande in Quebec’s Eastern Townships.

Following the Route Verte and the Trans Canada Trail, this route takes you from Montreal to Sherbrooke, covering 235km total.

The route takes you for stops at bike-friendly hotels and restaurants, and from Montreal runs on primarily on flat, paved rail trails. But of course once you get closer to the Appalachian Mountains, the trails open up to become a little more gravelly and hilly, and they’re a lot of fun to bike around.

Pictured here are a few highlights from our trip:
1. Cycling along the tree-covered La Montérégiade between and Farnham, QC.
2. Dining on fresh New Brunswick oysters, among other delicious dishes at in
3. Starting a new day in our Veloroute Gourmande jerseys on our balcony at the bike-friendly in Granby.
4. One of the many beautiful spaces we grabbed a bite to eat on our journey, like the cozy brick-walled, sun-filled room at in Farnham.
5. Stopping to visit historic landmarks along the route, like Fort Chambly National Historic Site in .
6. Just one of many bike-friendly patios on the route, where we had a delicious lunch at in
7. A few dishes from dinner on our final night at in
8. and I feeling accomplished on our final gravel stretch from Eastman to Magog.
9. The delicious Anise Shrimp dish from , flambéed with ouzo, eggplant and fennel confit and pomegranate molasses
10. Celebrating the final night of our trip with sunset views overlooking Lake Memphremagog at the incredible bike friendly property and boutique hotel of . Toasted to a wonderful trip with a bottle of orange wine from , Les Pieds Sur Terre

We didn’t have enough time to do the full route from Montreal to Sherbrooke, but it’s definitely something we’d love to come back to do soon!

There are quite a few new people here, so I figured I should re-introduce myself. Thanks for following along, and welcome! 👋🏻

Here is a little bit about me:

🇨🇦 I’m Canadian, born and raised in Toronto, ON, and I still call this city my home! I’m originally from Scarborough, and am still living in the east end of the city.

🌍 I didn’t take my first trip outside of North America until I was 19, and quickly fell in love with travel. Since then I’ve lived in Seoul, South Korea and Istanbul, Türkiye, and have had the privilege of visiting 60 countries.

💍 My partner Chris () and I have been together for nearly 15 years, and we met as tour guides, taking Grade 8 kids on their grad trips to Ottawa, ON

📚 I majored in Drama and English at the University of Toronto, and worked as a teacher for 10 years. I’ve taught everything from beginner ESL classes for kindergarteners to Grade 12 English Lit courses, and am so proud of my former students and all of the successes in their lives!

✈️ I worked on our travel websites (travelingmitch, and ) for many years while I was teaching full time, but last year I took the plunge and decided to leave teaching. It was a difficult decision as I have always had so much love and appreciation for my students and colleagues, but it felt like it was a now or never decision to make the next step as a full time travel content creator.

🧳 I love to travel all around my home province of Ontario, other places across Canada, the United States and beyond. In the past year I’ve been lucky enough to travel to places like , where Chris and I were writers in residence for a month, the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland (), , , parts of England and Scotland on a road trip visiting my sister with , and many places in the United States.

🎤 A week ago I officiated the wedding of two dear friends, and Chris and I MC’d the wedding together 🥰

Over the next couple of weeks I’ll be travelling more around Canada and the USA, so thanks for coming along to learn about more of my adventures!

So excited for our session tomorrow with Scott and Megan!

Bri and I are off to talk about “Maximizing Collaborations with Content Creators” at the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Conference in Greenville! All this after co-MCing a wedding last night (all while I was still jet lagged from Europe - though I’d like to think we did our dear friends Ryan and Sarah proud).

Never a dull moment this time of year! 😃

Go where it’s so quiet that you can hear the frozen lake cracking. Where the crisp, cold air serves as the ultimate reminder to be present, and the stars seem so close, you feel like you could reach out and touch them.

I finally got to try fat biking in the magical winter wonderland that is Kivi Park under a fresh snowfall!

I am by no means an expert at fat biking yet, but it’s definitely a fun way to keep your bike legs in shape all year round. It’s a workout, but makes exploring mountain biking trails in winter so accessible.

Big thanks to Shawn from Adventure365 for showing us the ropes and helping me to feel comfortable on my first fat bike experience! travelingmitch and I had so much fun.

Some of my favourite memories from our trip to Eleuthera, Bahamas 🫶

This trip was my first time in , and it’s safe to say that it won’t be my last!

Chris and I quickly fell in love with Eleuthera. It’s a beautiful island brimming with crystal clear waters, pink sand beaches, diverse natural landscapes and a rich history. It’s known for its pineapples and pink beaches, meaning there are plenty of places for fun photo ops all over the island.

We covered a lot of ground during our trip, and visited this long island from its northernmost to southernmost parts, and everything in between.

I’ve posted a full article on our website (linked in stories and bio!), but here’s a quick mini guide about things to do in Eleuthera to make the most of your next trip there:

🍍 Visit Eleuthera’s caves, like Preacher’s Cave and Cathedral Caves
🍍 Swim with sea turtles or wild pigs off the coast of
🍍 Check out a couple of their famous pink sand beaches. We visited the adorable pink umbrella beach at after lunch.
🍍 Wander around historic towns to see the colonial settlement homes across the island, from Governor’s Harbour to Dunmore Town.
🍍 Head to the to learn about plants indigenous to Eleuthera, along with new species that have been introduced over the years. It’s incredible to learn about the natural remedies you can find on the island, and make sure you head up Ethan’s Tower for panoramic views of the jungle.
🍍 Head to one of Eleuthera’s many amazing local restaurants or marinas to grab a bite and relax. You can find Bahamian classics like conch salad and conch fritters all around the island. Some of our favourite spots we visited were , , and . Other great spots are New Sunset Inn, Tippy’s Bar and 1648 Restaurant

Battle Harbour is a one-of-a-kind travel destination in Canada. Its history, people and way of life will open your eyes to what it means to be a part of a quaint and awe-inspiring fishing village in the Atlantic Ocean.
