Our Story
Evansville Culinary Tours was started in March of 2017. It came about after a couple of friends and I took a few day trips to local cities looking for food inspiration. We walked between restaurants and specialty grocers on The Hill in St. Louis, around Main Street in Franklin, Tennessee, and along Bardstown Road in Louisville. We ate. We drank. We laughed.
All the way home we talked about what fun the tasting tours were and planned our next adventure. It wasn't long before the idea of food tours for Evansville became the topic of conversation — of many conversations — perhaps to the point of obsession. The other two enjoyed the idea, but my entrepreneurial spirit couldn’t let it go.
As a personal chef in need of fresh ideas for my clients I need to avoid getting into serious food ruts. Getting out of the kitchen and into the neighborhood restaurants to lead people to three, four or five restaurants seems to have nipped that problem right in the bud. There is never a dull minute!
Evansville Culinary Tours lets me combine my personal chef experience, along with previous restaurant management skills and a genuine love of teaching people about food, all while enjoying meals that I don’t cook. I get to share local history, food lore and recipes in fun conversations with like-minded people, whom I call foodistas. We frequently veer off the beaten path and discuss interesting things other than food. What could be better?
