New video premiering at 530pm tonight on my YouTube channel.

Apologies again all 🙏🏼, I have been out of action for quite a while and I am still very much in the same boat battling to recover enough to consistently get out again to enjoy the sport and lifestyle we all love. This is definitely not the best boat to be in and baby steps as they say! However, one thing is for sure, I am itching to hopefully get out and create more content again soon🤞🏼🤞🏼. In the meantime, I have have put together this video with footage shot from last year that will hopefully assistance some of you out there with the pending season change. For me Springtime brings change and hope on several levels, so I also hope that it does for others out there that are fighting their battles 🥊. Thanks again for your support and I hope you enjoy the 🎥.

"Rapala Shadow Rap Fat Jack - Shallow water crankbait fishing is a great option to cover water quickly in search of active Golden Perch in the warmer pockets of water, especially in the cooler months and Springtime periods.

This video is a minimally edited/cut walk through of primarily fishing the super shallow and narrow waters (0.5 -1 meter) during a tough bite period. I have specifically tailored this video to capture every cast in hopes to assist anglers in how to both effectively and efficiently canvas areas to locate feeding fish in a quick manor with shallow running crankbaits. This is a slow burn style video that gradually gets more exciting as it progresses into the super shallow and narrow terrain. I hope you enjoy 😃 "

An early Christmas 🎅present that I had to work extremely hard to get for many reasons to start the season, and that made this one really special! Sometimes we all struggle and things don't go to plan on and off the water, and I got hit with the curse BIG TIME 😣! I also had heartbreak of losing 5 meter plus fish in a row prior to landing this thick beast, coupled with the limited time I could physically stay out on the water. This capture was also significantly smaller than the absolute MAMMOTH I dropped at the net earlier that day....... and these magnificent fish just have a way to always pull you back out to try for more.

Enjoy your break all and stay healthy and safe✌🏼

The Float Boat's christening with it's first fish. It might be a baby but it's a very tubby pretty Murray Cod still. However, they will and have grown a bit since 😁.

Gotta also love the ease of popping down for an hour flick down the local river in a heavily populated public area and finding a few fish in the hard to reach places 🤟🏼 (missing the bigger one though 😞).

New video hitting at 5pm tonight on my YouTube.

"Springtime bites for Golden Perch can be extremely difficult to navigate when a deluge of wet and cold weather frequently lashes a waterway (especially when a dam suddenly becomes full and changes the Golden Perch breeding behaviors drastically). This coupled with constant false Springs is confusing the fish even more, as well negatively impacting the classic bite windows. Adaptation is the key like always and this video goes through my mindset in blind casting and effectively navigating the banks with diving crankbaits/jerkbaits, along with navigating the points and tree tops to get the bites in a tough fishing session/Springtime period. I hope you can get something out of this video to navigate a tough Springtime Golden Perch bite in the high water. Enjoy 😃 "

It has been a while between drinks for me in spending some time on the water, and what a way to open my Springtime Golden Perch campaign with this slob! One of several caught in this short arvo session on these finicky fish using the new Rapala Shad Rap Elite 75 before the rain hit. The weather so far this Spring has been sub-par (including this heavy rain) and sure put a damper ☔ on the official start to the Springtime gold rush! Hopefully🤞🏼🤞🏼the heat 🔥 will finally set in soon to really set fire to the Golden Perch fishing (she is a bit of a slog at the moment with water temps still quite low and averaging well under 16 degrees).

Doing the yards 💪🏼 Flash back 🔙 Friday to early 2017 when I was a couple years into my mission in self learning to effectively target big Murray Cod with lipless crankbaits while fishing vertically 🔓. Although, this was not my first big Cod encounter with this method, it still holds big meaning for me! This was the moment when I truly broke one of many theories on a Native fish behavior. This capture was immediately followed by a Golden Perch, and then a large Redfin in the exact spot (3 fish species in 3 drops). This also included a lot of boat noise and release of fish immediately in this same spot.

This beauty was caught on a Rapala Rippin Rap while positioning my boat with the aid of a physical anchor ⚓, as I did not even have a GPS lock electric motor at that stage. My first few years of study was definitely going the yard yards with lures 💪🏼, even to the point of not using any electronics, and by using long ropes tied between trees to also position myself.

There is no substitute for the technology that is between your eyes 👀. Always strive for your goals and don't let anyone tell you that an idea is silly! I certainly got a lot of negative comments in my pursuit and development of this technique, even back in 2017.

I again had the pleasure to sit down with Greg Vinall and record another episode of the 'Australian Lure Fishing' podcast (Episode 520). This time I ran through 5 Winter lure fishing locations around Canberra (technically more than 5). You can find the episode on many streaming platforms or doclures.com.

I hope you enjoy ❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️.

It's great to mix in some gold between Murray Cod bites 😁 no matter the size.

The Golden Perch are definitely slowing down and this calls for changing up methods, such as working lures slower and incorporating changes in hops etc. However, perseverance is ultimately the biggest pay off when your are trying to crack that native code.

The weather is nasty tomorrow locally and this is a timely reminder to be extra cautious, especially coming into the winter months. Hypothermia is a real and quick killer!

Very recently a kayaker sunk his kayak in rough weather at Googong Dam and lost everything except for his life thankfully! This individual was also not wearing a life jacket and was extremely lucky enough to make it to shore in the freezing waters. No matter how good of a swimmer you are, it is extremely important to wear your life jackets especially in Alpine Waterways during winter (Googong is classified as Alpine waters).

Check your local rules and also think smart out there, prepare and don't try be a hero in the rough conditions. Stay safe all 🙂.

WINTER IS COMING! ❄️❄️❄️ and here is a rewind 🔙 to the chill factor ❄️❄️❄️. I love watching back the double pump hook set 😎.

It might not be for all anglers, but I am really looking forward to the very slow and bitterly cold winter grind in the minus degree temperatures! Especially when the prizes get this thick and big 😁 💪🏼.

129cm of MEGA thick Murray Cod! The adrenaline filled emotion of tangling with these MEGA Cod is something else, and seeing them swim away is just so satisfying.

It was an absolute honor and until we hopefully meet again 🙇‍♂️.

Geeeeeeez do I have a tail to tell 😉 on this flash back 🔙 Friday..........all the way 🔙 to January 2009, when I solo landed this beast of Murray Cod in Lake Burley Griffin on my Birthday 🎉🎊.....This was the best birthday present ever for several reasons too 😁!

Not only was this my first ever meter plus Murray Cod landed on a lipless crankbait, the hook-up took place on my very last cast during a grueling session 🥵. I was peppering a row of snags (blind casting) because I just had a gut feeling that a big Cod was holding in the deep. I was extremely determined to annoy and extract the fish I believed was there lying in wait! Thankfully, my percistance paid off when I received what I believe was a territorial tail swipe in sheer annoyance! Shortly after the hook-up the real battle began to ramp up in ways I never experienced with any fish prior to this! I then thought I was in for a true MONSTER catch but this was obviously because the beast was hooked in the tail (swipe to picture 2) 😂. After what felt like a marathon battle backwards and forwards (literally), I was more than willing to gracefully accept my birthday prized present 🎊🎉 😁.
