Tree creeper
Tweeting all bird lovers out there! It is such a shame that we are unable to have guests at the moment, but if you love birds, you might be tempted to book a stay here for next spring.
We have so many birds nesting around the property this year; it really is an ornithologist's paradise. Prime viewing spots at the moment are as follows:
- Le Jasmin's garden for great views of the kestrels nesting in a former crows' nest in the walnut tree
- Le Laurier's garden for observing the comings and goings of the collared doves, who have returned to their favourite spot in the eaves above the hot tub
- The swing seat in the communal garden where you can lie back and enjoy watching the very timid tree creepers frantically feeding up their youngsters in the woodshed, or the great tits who are very busy building their nest in the birdbox above the swing seat. Or, you can just listen to the cuckoo.
We also have two families of wood pigeons (oh my poor pea seeds!!), several blackbirds, and slightly more elusive goldfinches and chaffinches. Not to be outdone by the wild birds, we also currently have 4 broody hens and our first chick due today!
