The Italian version of afternoon tea! ☕️ 🍰

Merenda Reale literally translates as ‘Royal snack’ and brings together biscuits, cakes, meringues and chocolates to be enjoyed with thick, hot chocolate. This one, we enjoyed in Turin last year where it’s really considered a classic.

So, who does afternoon sweet treats better? We know we’re biased but we think ours!

Say ciao to Casa Di Vignolo, our six-person, centuries-old villa in the middle of our peaceful village.

Our favourite thing about this enchanting place? The small veranda onto the town square. As a pedestrian only space, it’s a lovely spot to watch locals enjoying daily routines while sipping a morning espresso.

Can you see the signs of what this incredible building was before? Stone above the doorway, wooden beams in the ceilings and huge flagstones across the floors, all nod to the previous centuries as an ancient water mill. 

Today, up to 12 people can stay at Mulino Morandi and enjoy contemporary furnishings, an alfresco terrace and large pool.

It’s last of the fig season here in Italy!

There’s nothing Italians love more than appreciating seasonal produce and autumn is such an important time for us. As we close the biggest harvest of the year, celebrate our olive oil festival and enjoy fruits and vegetables like chestnuts, truffles, pumpkins and so much more.

Did you know that olive oil changes in taste as it rests?

After the Olive Oil Festival the fun is far from over. Now, it’s time to try the different bottles and enjoy the taste of freshly-made oil, which will soon settle and soften. While in the first few weeks spicy, peppery notes are more prominent, the flavours will continue to develop - which is all part of this organic product’s beauty.

Foodies will love this process, so think about joining us next year and send us a message to keep up to date with future festivals.

This weekend we’ve been celebrating the annual Olive Oil Festival in our province of Arezzo, joining locals and welcoming guests from all over the world to experience the harvest of our delicious, Tuscan olives.

Our village, Pergine Valdarno, is famous for its olive oil and we love sharing this with guests, inviting them to pick the produce, savour the flavours and learn about how this product is made.

It’s one of our favourite weekends of the year and a magical way to immerse yourself in true Tuscan culture.
