Flamenco Show in Madrid
Flamenco is one of the great treasures of Spain. On our De Jaleo: Evening of Tapas and Flamenco experience here in Madrid we visit an intimate flamenco theater with just 4 rows of seats. The theater is run by the artists themselves and their passion is palpable!

During the holidays, many of us here at Walk and Eat travel near and far to visit family and friends. Our fantastic guide Leire has perhaps the most exciting holiday plans this year! She is in Lapland, Finland taking people to visit Santa himself! She sent us this lovely Christmas message from the snowy fields outside Santa's Village.Felices Fiestas!! #walkingtoursmadrid #foodtourspain #spanishfood #christmasmadrid #navidadmadrid
The olive harvest is in full swing in Spain right now! From November through January, Spain’s olive farmers collect more olives than any other country in the world. One out of every two bottles of olive oil sold worldwide comes from Spain! The longer the olive stays on the tree and the more it ripens, the darker it becomes. This year’s early harvested oils, which are made from bright green and barely ripe olives, are already on the market. In the last slide you can see just how green olive oil from early harvested olives can be! #madridtour #madridtourism #spanishfood #oliveoil #aceitedeoliva #oliveharvest #oliveoillovers
Markets are the soul of Madrid’s neighborhoods! Here are our 4 favorite reasons to visit a traditional Mercado during a visit to Madrid.
Markets are the soul of Madrid’s neighborhoods! Here are our 4 favorite reasons to visit a traditional Mercado during a visit to Madrid:1. Snack Shopping: Is there any better plane/train snack than fresh, local fruit? Grab some mandarin oranges, bananas or apples from the fruit vendor. 2. Edible Souvenirs: From certified saffron to delicious tinned seafood, markets have some of the best selections of tasty Spanish souvenirs.3. Picnic Supplies: Markets are home to incredible cured meats and artisanal cheese vendors who are happy to slice up a picnic-ready plate of their delicacies!4. Market Bar: Every market has an old school bar where the market vendors and people from the neighborhood stop for a quick beer or a fabulous lunch prepared with market-fresh ingredients. Finding this bar is like discovering a true hidden gem where the food and drinks are incredibly affordable and delicious! #madridtour #madridtourism #spanishfood #tapas #mercadosmadrid #madridmarkets #localmarkets
You might know vermouth as the mixer for your martini, but here in Spain vermouth, aka vermú or vermut, is served straight with little more than an ice cube and an olive! Spanish vermouth is a bit sweeter than its Italian counterpart and is meant to be the first drink of the day. Vermouth, they say, opens your appetite and prepares you for a long day of eating and drinking! Can you see why we love it? But what really is Spanish vermouth? Amy is here to answer all of your questions! #walkingtoursmadrid #foodtourspain #spanishfood #vermouth #horadelvermut#vermutlovers #vermuteando
We love this city. Even in the winter, Madrid's skies are magnificent. One of the best parts of town to catch the last rays of the winter sun is around the Royal Palace.
For the perfect sunset stroll, start at the top of the hill on Calle Factor about 45 minutes before sunset. Walk down past the Royal Palace (the palace should be on your left) along the newly renovated park paths that now connect the Royal Palace with Plaza de España. Continue past the plaza all the way over to Templo de Debod. From there you'll be able to see the sunset overlooking the entire southern half of the city!

Tapa vs Pincho vs Ración. These three words are key to understanding how we eat in Madrid! So, what sets them apart? In sort, it’s the portion size. Tapas are usually the smallest portion and often come free when you order a drink or caña. Think of a bowl of potato chips or olives.Pinchos are small, individual bites. Typically a “pincho” is a slice of baguette topped with delicious things held together by a toothpick. Pinchos get their name from the Spanish verb Pinchar, meaning ‘to skewer’. Raciones are the largest portion size and are made for sharing! It is very rare to have a plate of food all to yourself in Spain. Instead, we order a couple of different raciones to share. The general rule is one ración per person should be enough food for the group. ¡Que aproveche! #walkingtoursmadrid #foodtourspain #spanishfood #pinchodetortilla #tapasbars #raciondecalamares #tapasmadrid
