Neputa Festival in Yahata, Kitakyushu City. Neputa was born originally in northern part of Japan. Yahata started Neputa Festival 18 years ago. This area is well known for producing iron. A fire Festival Neputa is associated with blast furnaces manufacturing iron.
Kurosaki Gion Yamakasa Festival in Yahata and Goheita Bayashi (musical accompaniment) Festival in Wakamatsu, Kitakyushu City. In the past, stevedores who carried coal began to sing this song, hitting the side of a boat with their mallets. That’s the origin of Goheita Bayashi Festival.
