Sone Jinko (visit of a deity) Festival in Kokura, Kitakyushu City. Sone is a farm area. The festival began to pray for good harvest and safety from natural disasters.
Dairi Densho (illuminated) Yamakasa Festival in Moji, Kitakyushu City. It broke once, but was revived in 1986, responding to the strong desire of the local people.
Neputa Festival in Yahata, Kitakyushu City. Neputa was born originally in northern part of Japan. Yahata started Neputa Festival 18 years ago. This area is well known for producing iron. A fire Festival Neputa is associated with blast furnaces manufacturing iron.
Kurosaki Gion Yamakasa Festival in Yahata and Goheita Bayashi (musical accompaniment) Festival in Wakamatsu, Kitakyushu City. In the past, stevedores who carried coal began to sing this song, hitting the side of a boat with their mallets. That’s the origin of Goheita Bayashi Festival.
Wasshoi Hyakuman (million) Summer Festival in Kitakyushu City. Several festivals got together and paraded the Komono Street in Kokura. The first was Kokura Gion Festival.
