GILI TRAWANGAN & BOAT TRIP

Gili Trawangan

Till the Mt Rinjani done and the treck over, we reach as fast as possible Gilis islands.

This place is just paradise, you have white sand, clear blue sea and lot of restaurants and bars to feed and have a drink all around the coast. Otherwise its great spot to do snorkeling, so we did some, and we get lucky to sea some turtles. The rest was of our time was just chilling time on the beach or going to some good restaurants ;)

Boat trip

After three days of chill in Gili we took the boat trip to reach Flores.
During these 4days of trip we were with 10 other people. We did a lot of snorkeling too and can saw the beautiful corals and many different fishes, and also a manta ray.

We also get a tuff night during the Boat trip, waves were so strong than you can even stand up or sit down without getting sick. So, we just pass almost 14 hours to sleep and waiting for the end !

Finally, we finished the boat trip by Rinca and Komodo islands to have a look to the famous Komodo dragon. It can runs at 30km/h, climb to trees and if it bites you, you will die in the following hour because of bacteries it get in the mouth. So dont try to make it angry.

LOMBOK - Mt RINJANI

The harder walk in my life !

After spending one week in Bali we reach Lombok to the Rinjani hike.

1st day
We wake up at 4h30 to reach the beginning of the treck.
9h Lets go, we start from 1300m to reach the first camp at night at 2600m.
Even at 9 o'clock the sun is already very warm and we walk in plains without shadows to hide from the heat.

Then the harder part begin the hike become a climb with 45% of slope.
This part was hard but only for tourists, porters hike in flip flap and faster than us, the shame.

2nd day
Wake up at 2h30 to do the Rinjani climb. We start at 3h without eating anything. That was the hardest part. The slope was of 50-55% and composed of small rocks. So when you climb 2m you sweep 1m.
Finally, in spite of cold wind and dust we succeed to reach the summit before sunset, at 6:00.

Even it was hard to climb it, I'm fu***ng happy to succeed !!!

The journey end with 6h more of walk (2h to go down from the summit, 2 more to reach the lake at 1800m and finally 2 to go to our 2nd camp at 2600m)
Near the lake we went to some hot springs waterfalls, which was just awesome because we can clean ourselves from all the Rinjani dust.
Busy day !

3rd day
The easiest one. We just have to go to Senaru to finish the treck and that was only go down from 2600m to 600m.
Whatever we walk the faster we can to reach the city and leave Rinjani to Gili islands where we can relax.

7100m of slope in 3days that was just crazy!

Now chilling in Gili Trawangan it's much more better, no way to discuss !

BALI - UBUD

Arrived at Ubud after 3 days in Kuta, we went by motorbike to differents temples in the north of Bali. There were baths in the temples so we can have a swim.

The weird thing in Ubud is that all strangers overthere are backpackers. No more tourists with lot of luggages as in Kuta. Maybe that's explain the changement of spirit which was much more friendly. Moreover, I didn't feel the fact of beeing a wallet on foot like in Kuta.

Also by loosing ourselves in scooter, we get lucky of meeting indonesians guys who are drinking together a lot of Bintang ;) When they show us, we were invite to join their party. Finally they offre us some local drink made from beer and plants. We can also have a little concert as you can see on the next video.

Next step Amed, to do some diving. I'll publish pictures in a few days

BALI - KUTA

After a busy week in Java, we finally reach Bali and joined Chris in Kuta, the biggest resort of the island. Comparing to Java, Bali and especially Kuta is very different. Firstly is a much more touristic place where you can find lot of european dishes and also much more alcohol than in Java because of the religion. Otherwise Kuta is the main resort for australian in Indonesia, so you can meet lot of them, surfing on the waves or in the lot of clubs in Legian street.

So in my opinion, Kuta is too touristic and don't represent the spirit of Bali at all. Moreover, after a few days you're gonna to be fed up with the taxi driver hailing.

Nevertheless, is the good place to chill and surf as we can try it. We spent 3 days overthere relaxing ourselves. Furthermore, we can try the Bali's coconuts which represent the feeling of holidays and chill ;)

Otherwise, we also visit Uluwatu temple in the south of Bali which was awesome. We can see some "sweet" monkeys destroying motorbikes and helmets in the temple's parking.

Finally, talking about bad things, I lose my phone because of water so I was cut from internet and of my only way to contact anyone. That's why I was needed to by a new one. Damn s**t...
Hopefully, I find a better one than the one I had for only 800000 IDR (~53€).

BANYUWANGI

Wednesday, after two days in Yogyakarta we decided to reach Banyuwangi at the extremum east of Java to hike the Mount Ijen the day after.

The problem was, to reach this city we needed to take a 14 hours train. So we passed our all day in the train, quite exausting !

When we finally arrived, a man from the railway station guessed us to take a pass to do the Ijen climbing tommorow that include the jeep to go there and a night at his home. Honestly, at the beginning, he was very strange and we hesitated a lot to accept or not. Even when we accepted, we already looked after him to see if he didn't try to stole us.

Afterwards, it was a very good plan and everything works without any problem.

The hiking was ok to climb till the top of the volcano. We were also stunned by the sight overthere. The harder part was to go into the crater, because of the smoke projection. To protect ourselves from the toxic smoke, we needed to wear wet tissue in front of our mouse and nose.

When we finished this 6km trip we decide to reach the harbour to decide if we went to Bali directly or if we spent a day in Banyuwangi. After 30 mintues of thinking the decision was made and we took a ferry to reach Bali and then a bus and a taxi to join Chris at Kuta in the south of Bali.

So from yesterday evening, I relax my self in Kuta after a hard and busy first week in Indonesia.

After a few days travelling alone in Java. I join Tom and Benjamin at Yogyakarta. They didn't get internet yet but finally I succeded to find them, guess where ? In a Mc Donald of course ;)
When I arrived in this city, I didn't plan to stay somewhere so we planned to hide me than I can sleep with them in a 2 beds room hotel.

For the next day we plan to visit Borobudur's and Prambanan's temples. So we rent two motorbikes to reach these places, which are 50km far from the hotel.
The temples are very nice but for the Borobudur's one, whe spent more time to take selfies with indonesian's people than to visit the temple. They come from everywhere and we can't spent 5 minutes without taking a selfie or photos.

Finally, after this hard day of visiting, we went to Batik restaurant in Yogyakarta to feed themselves. As a recompense, we take a strong hamburger as well as a local beer. What's better ? ;)

PURWOKERTO

Arrived at Purwokerto, I was great welcoming by Ayu my couchsurfer in this town.
I was host by one of her friends an I pass great times overthere. Lucky for me I get the chance to assist at the 36th anniversary of her student community which was very nice, thanks to the traditional dances and typicial band.
Otherwise, Ayu brings me to some waterfalls that was great and also to the Hot spring waterfalls that's just fu***ng awesome because of the temperature of water between 30 and 50º C.

Everyone there was very friendly at interesting to share culture.

Thanks Ayu, to make me discover your culture and your city !
