Pemuteran Bay Bali Pemuteran Bay is in the quiet north west of Bali. A small laid-back village which has become increasingly popular with visitors in recent years.

In the background of the bay are majestic mountain tops, the sea is free of current and perfect for swimming. Pemuteran has the largest area of shallow reefs in Bali. Also its proximity to Menjangan Island snorkel and dive paradise and West Bali National Park together with the extreme natural beauty of the area, has fuelled quite rapid growth in tourism infrastructure in the area. There are a numb

er of waterfront resorts, villas and home stays, suitable for all budget. The word 'Pemuteran' means 'comes back to you'.......You will see that this is true for many aspects.

Meet Ketut Totok, the driving force behind Metamorfosa

The big man behind the reef project is master diver Totok. He is an certified PADI dive instructor and by far one of the most enthusiastic and funny individuals that I have ever met. His passion for diving and his love for his village is brought out through this project. The reef project is his life goal and he will not stop until the entire bay is full of thriving coral and happy fish swimming along in harmony.

When he is not busy guiding divers or rebuilding the coral, he is educating the youth of the village. He teaches them about importance of a healthy ocean and how to maintain this and even offers free lessons to the villagers so they can become dive guides and help with the project. Totok is a man with his heart in the right place and the ideal mindset to help the community change for the best! Because of the enthusiasm and commitment of Totok and his team, the coral will develop much faster and by educating the villagers now, the harm will be minimised so that the future generation will once again be able to enjoy a reef full of beautiful fish, healthy coral and joyful faces 😊

Beautiful Biorock structures in Pemuteran.

Amazing colourful coral and fish at the biorock structures in pemuteran. A great way to spend the morning snorkeling at these structures.

A stroll from villa Semadhi over the beach to reach the biorock structures.

BIOROCK

More then fifty-six Biorock coral nursery structures have been installed since June 2000 in Pemuteran Village. With a total length of 300 metres situated in an area of 2 hectares, this is the largest Biorock coral reef nursery and restoration project worldwide.

These structures are located in an area parallel to the shore, about 50-100 metres from the coastline, in waters ranging from about 3 to 7 metres deep. They are roughly lined up, forming a natural snorkeling and diving trail.

A restaurant with a view close to Pemuteran.

Having a great time at Suma Restaurant.

Suma Restaurant is a beautiful hidden oasis in the hills of the quiet village of Sumberkima. It looks out over the bay, green hills and surrounding mountains. The restaurant is part of The Sumberkima Hill Retreat but also functions separately.
Besides a fixed menu there is a daily changing
menu depending on what is fresh on the market and what chef Suma wants to prepare that evening. He goes to the market every morning and handpicks all the ingredients himself. Everything you eat comes from the surrounding local farmers and fishermen and they grow most of their own fruits. He hardly ever makes the same meal twice so every day is a new challenge to develop something new and creative. You are guaranteed to have something new and exciting every time you eat there and it is always very tasty! .
