Tourists, enjoy the whale festival in Sainte Marie, the authentic island of Ile aux nattes with its beautiful beaches . This is not the first time but it is an annual celebration and one of the biggest events in the Indian Ocean.
'' The seventh edition of the Whale Festival takes place in August (August 18 to 21, 2022) on the island of Sainte-Marie, on the east coast of Madagascar. This event celebrates these marine mammals which each year choose the warm waters of the Indian Ocean to breed and raise their young. During four days, several activities related to the festival will be observed such as: the carnival, the fashion show, the evening concerts, the conferences, the various traditional games etc. The entire local community, including the inhabitants of the 18 villages of Sainte-Marie, will actively participate in the event. The Whale Festival is an opportunity to bring together the local community, tourists and businesses around a theme: the protection of these marine mammals. And well beyond the environmental cause, this major event for the entire Indian Ocean region also aims to be a great tourist and cultural moment. Each edition is marked by whale watching which will allow tourists to observe these animals and learn more about their conservation. ''
