Bremerhaven was the busiest port for emigrants leaving Europe between 1830 and 1874. The Deutsches Auswandererhaus is an award-winning experiential museum with an average of 180,000 visitors per year, making it one of the most visited museums in Germany. It not only portrays the emigration flow overseas but also 330 years of immigration history to Germany.
At the entrance, visitors will receive a boarding pass with which they can listen to real-life stories at audio stations. The museum tour is a journey through time from 1870 to the 1920s with lots of replicas, real documents, and amazing expositions. Visitors get the full experience from the Norddeutscher Lloyd departure waiting hall, the passage on typical emigrant ships, arriving at the Ellis Island US immigration station and finally the Grand Central Terminal in New York.
You can experience this extraordinary museum at the Hanseatic Pearls eco-cultural tour from October 2 – 11, 2024! This is a unique, private roundtrip from/to Hamburg for max. 8 persons.
