Bryce Canyon -Utah. Named after the Scottish born Ebenezer Bryce who emigrated to Utah in 1850 and built a road into the place so he could start harvesting timber! Everyone in this neck of the woods claims to have a Scottish descendent! Great place to hike - you just have to watch out for falling rocks!

Dia de Los Mu***os (Day of the Dead). Originated centuries ago in Mexico and still widely celebrated on 1st and 2nd of November - it has also become very popular in parts of America where there is a high Mexican population. It's a holiday for remembering and honouring those who have passed and is a festive, joyous time of celebration.

No trip to America would be complete without a stay in Las Vegas. Full of bright lights, amazing hotels, casinos galore!!! Won $57 at the Craps Table and still don't know how to play it - alcohol helped!!

Ahoy there sailors!!! Experiencing life at sea aboard one of Americas longest serving aircraft carriers. When it was built in 1945 it was the largest ship in the world for a decade. Loved the volunteers who were retired sailors and pilots who served on the ship - one of them was even based on the Clyde for a year in a submarine!!

San Diego is a fab city with a great vibe about it. Lots to see and do and a very slick transport system. Cool bars, restaurants, a great waterfront and some mighty big warships to explore! We loved Richard Walkers Pancake Place!!

Venice Beach, LA (home of Muscle Beach)....Errr, it's not quite what we expected....think Blackpool meets Benefits St and throw in a tonne of dope...time for a quick exit and head South to San Diego!

Hearst Castle - pretty spectacular but weird at the same time!!!! Had been looking forward to the outside pool but it had been emptied - oh well will have to wash another day!!

Taking some time out from the national parks to head down the coast for some sun, sand and sea and first stop the towns of Monterey and Carmel (where Clint Eastwood was once mayor) -both really great places although you need a bit of cash to live in Carmel!!

Driving through Yosemite in the 'Loveshack' - amazing scenery although it was a bit hazy and smoky due to a large fire in the area at the time.

Mono Lake and it's volcanic Tufa's......we decided to pitch here for a couple of nights before setting off for Yosemite!

Hall of Mosses - Olympic National Park. If you believe in myths and fairy tales, then this is the place where they come alive! Being 20 miles from Forks, the air is heavy with the smell of Vampires & Wolves!

Spent the night looking for some hot vampires in Forks!! Now off to La Push Beach to see if any wolves are around. May have to wander up into the forest just to double check! Richard had to stop me telling the restaurant last night that their twilight quiz answers were wrong - I'm such a Twihard!!!
