Hey! My name is Aynslee and I play volleyball at Plymouth State University in New Hampshire. Over the past four weeks, I have been interning and living in València, Spain. I’ve really enjoyed my time here, especially the weekends which have been full of all types of travel! The first weekend I was here I stayed in València and got to learn about the history of the city and navigate my way through the transportation system.

I spent my second weekend in Madrid with some of the interns and it was so much fun. The city was lively, beautiful, and had some of the best food I’ve had here.

The third weekend was spent in Barcelona as a group. It was full of history, sightseeing, and plenty of walking. We got to tour the La Sagrada FamĂlia, which was my highlight of the trip.

This weekend I traveled to Buñol in search of Cueva Del Turche. After a few miles, we found the waterfall and also the natural pools that formed above it.

I am so grateful to have been in València for the past month, as well as getting to explore other cities and towns!

Hi, I’m Lilly, a rising sophomore on the Pitt Women’s Lacrosse team! I have spent the past few weeks in Valencia, Spain with SAA. This was my first time traveling outside the United States, but fortunately I had 3 other Pitt teammates traveling with me! While we all have different internships and schedules, we are able to eat meals, share rooms, and practice together. Traveling abroad can be intimidating, especially if you’re by yourself, which is why I was so grateful to have some familiar faces when I landed in Spain. Since being here, we have shared in so many new experiences that I look forward to bring back to the rest of our team. Even if you don’t plan to travel with anyone you know, the people you meet on your program will become your teammates in a way. I am so thankful for being able to travel with friends and for how easy it was to make new ones along the way!

Our Wittenberg University semester abroad students are settling into the Guanacaste province of Costa Rica! Their final month of study abroad is volunteer focused.

They’ve been working with our local non-profit partners on turtle habitat preservation, providing after-school programming for local youth, environmental clean-ups, and walking rescue dogs.

Here are a few photo highlights!

“Student-Athletes Abroad is San Jose, Costa Rica was the best three weeks of my life. I learned so much about the power of humanity. I learned that it is possible to see beyond differences in language, culture, or background. By immersing myself in the Tico culture with other student-athletes, I was able to gain an appreciation for their relaxed, family-oriented culture. I learned to appreciate strong relationships by connecting to my host family, peers, staff, and the athletes and parents at Escuelas Deportivas. SA Abroad was a great way for me to connect and make lasting friendships. At SA Abroad, everyone cares about each other and wants to make a difference in people's lives. SA Abroad is a family.

I would recommend this program because of the relationships you can create. My relationships and connections with the athletes at Escuelas Deportivas, Student-Athletes Abroad, friends, host family, and locals will stay with me forever. There is no better way to make lifelong friends and gain lifelong memories than with Student Athlete Abroad!”
