**Exciting Opportunities for Marine Biology Interns and Private Group Whale Watching at Jersey Shore Whale Watch**

At **Jersey Shore Whale Watch**, we’re passionate about the ocean and marine life, and we’re looking for enthusiastic **college students majoring in marine biology** to join us as interns. This is an incredible opportunity to gain hands-on experience with marine life, contribute to educational programs, and help inspire others to appreciate the beauty and importance of our oceans. Interns will have the chance to be part of our team, assisting with whale-watching tours and educational outreach programs, while enjoying the thrill of working on the water.

# # # Marine Biology Interns: Educating and Inspiring

As a marine biology intern with Jersey Shore Whale Watch, you'll play an essential role in sharing the wonders of marine life with the public. One of the main responsibilities of our interns is to help educate groups that join us on our tours. Interns will gain valuable public speaking experience by interacting with people of all ages, from **young campers** curious about marine animals to **senior citizens** looking to learn more about the fascinating world beneath the waves. Not only will you deepen your understanding of marine biology, but you’ll also have the opportunity to make a difference by fostering environmental awareness and ocean conservation in others.

This internship provides a unique, real-world experience that will enhance your resume and prepare you for a future career in marine biology, environmental education, or eco-tourism. You’ll work alongside our experienced crew, learning how to spot whales, dolphins, and other marine wildlife, and participate in the day-to-day operations of our whale-watching tours.

# # # Private Boat Rentals for Groups

In addition to our scheduled whale-watching trips, **Jersey Shore Whale Watch** offers the option to **privately rent our boat**, the **Jersey Girl**, for your own custom experience. Whether you're organizing a special event, a school field trip, a corporate outing, or simply a unique day on the water for your friends and family, renting the boat for a private tour offers a personalized and exclusive adventure.

**Peak Whale Watching Season on the East Coast: New Jersey’s Prime Time for Whale Watching**

October is the peak whale-watching season along the Jersey Shore, and 2024 has already proven to be an exceptional year for spotting humpback whales off the coast. Fall whale watching in New Jersey is truly epic, with **October and November** providing some of the most awe-inspiring encounters with these majestic creatures. On **October 6, 2024**, eight different humpback whales were sighted during our tours, further emphasizing how this season continues to exceed expectations. Whether you’re a wildlife enthusiast or just looking for a unique experience, now is the perfect time to witness the wonders of whale watching on the East Coast.

# # # Why Fall is the Best Season for Whale Watching in New Jersey

Whale watching along the **Jersey Shore** is at its prime in the fall due to the migration patterns of humpback whales. These massive creatures are making their way south from their feeding grounds in the north, passing through the waters off New Jersey as they head toward warmer waters. During this time, whales are highly active as they feed on schools of fish such as menhaden, which are plentiful in the area.

The months of **October and November** provide ideal conditions for whale watching. The cooler temperatures and calmer seas make for pleasant excursions, and the activity of the whales themselves is unparalleled during this period. While the summer months do offer whale sightings, the fall is where the real action is. During this time, you’re not just spotting a whale here and there — you could be treated to sightings of multiple whales breaching, spouting, and even feeding near the boat.

# # # Recent Whale Sightings: October 2024

Our October 6, 2024, trips showcased exactly why fall is the prime season for whale watching. On our morning 9:30 a.m. tour, we spotted two humpback whales, and the afternoon 12:30 p.m. trip was even more eventful, with six additional humpbacks seen, totaling eight individual whales in a single day! This level of activity is a testament to the incredible marine life thriving off the Jersey coast during the fall months.

# # # What to Expect on a Jersey Shore Whale Watching Tour

Whale watching tours with **Jersey Shore Whale Watch** operate regularly throughout the fall, with trips running on weekends and select weekdays based on demand. Our boat, the **Jersey Girl**, is a spacious, two-level vessel designed for comfort and optimal viewing. The boat features a heated cabin, full bathrooms, and a galley kitchen, ensuring that passengers stay comfortable even as the temperatures start to cool. Whether you’re wearing a T-shirt or a light sweatshirt, you’ll be able to enjoy your trip in comfort as you take in the sights of the open ocean and, of course, the whales.

Each trip is led by a knowledgeable naturalist who provides valuable insights into the behavior and migration of the whales, as well as information on the surrounding marine ecosystem. Our tours are designed to be both informative and exhilarating, offering a chance to learn about the wildlife while also enjoying a thrilling experience. For anyone interested in marine biology or simply looking for a unique day out, this is a can’t-miss opportunity.

# # # Why Choose Jersey Shore Whale Watch?

Jersey Shore Whale Watch is proud to be the only full-time whale-watching boat operating in the area. Our tours are not just about spotting whales but about providing a complete and enjoyable experience for passengers of all ages. Families, schools, and private groups are all welcome, and we offer private charters for special events.

Unlike some whale-watching tours that take you far offshore, we often stay relatively close to shore, where the whales are most active. However, on certain occasions, we also venture into deeper waters to spot even larger species of whales. This variety ensures that every trip offers something different and exciting. With guaranteed whale sightings and an experienced crew, you’re in for a memorable adventure.

# # # A Record-Breaking Year for Whale Watching

2024 has been an exceptional year for whale watching in New Jersey. From the summer months to the peak fall season, our tours have consistently delivered incredible whale sightings, often exceeding expectations. The weather has been favorable, with ideal conditions that have allowed us to run trips nearly every weekend. With plenty of good weather still ahead, our whale-watching season will continue through early **December**.

Our tours offer more than just whale sightings; they provide an unforgettable day out on the water, complete with scenic views and expert guidance.

We got a couple ideas of what we might do offshore Thursday. Maybe we’ll leave early before sunrise gets sunrise out on the ocean where we’ve been seeing all these whales and we just go out to where an area where we’re comfortable that if the ocean was to get sh*tty. We’ve only got an hour to ride back as a ride back of seven hours, will keep you up-to-date and what’s going on. The price would be less you wanna go with us leave a comment the wheels are spinning, so we’re trying to figure this out. Whales are everywhere so we want to get out there this week.
