Magnolia Leatherworks was founded in 2008 out of a love of handmade goods, quality over quantity, and a love of old western gun leather. Fast forward to 2008.

I'd love to make something for you! How did it all begin...
Sometime back in 2007, I started getting the urge to learn an "old world" skill, something meticulous and hands on that had been passed down from generation to generation. I've always been interested in all things history, and I wanted a creative way to put my love of history into something tangible. After a weekend visit to Charleston, S

C and seeing all the wrought iron all over the city, I just KNEW I had to be a blacksmith. After careful consideration and a nagging vision of me burning my tiny house down, I decided I needed to settle on something less.....dangerous. During this one year, both of my parents passed away. I was in my mid-twenties, was relatively newly wed, and my wife had just given birth to our first child. To say I was in a mental state of complete chaos would be a massive understatement. In the midst of all this chaos, I had something of an epiphany where I just knew the craft I should undertake was leather working. On a whim one day, I headed over to the local leather craft store and picked up my first craft kit. It had everything I needed to get started, including a couple of starter projects. I was INSTANTLY hooked! I went back to the store probably 3-4 times every week and soaked up as much information as possible. I bought and read every book I could get my hands on; I joined every forum in existence; I wholly threw myself and all my grief into learning everything I could about leather working. It kept me grounded, and it kept me sane. And as an added bonus, I sort of had a knack for it! So in May of 2008, I opened up the shop and haven't looked back since!! FAST FORWARD TO TODAY

We live in an age of fast-food and cut corners, all in the name of quantity NOT quality. Since the first day that I started selling my leather products, quality has been priority number one! In fact, I WILL NOT place my maker's mark on an item that doesn't make me proud. To me, Magnolia Leatherworks is more than just a hobby or just a business. It's a connection that I feel with the past, both in the old-world craftmanship of leather working, and with my own personal journey overcoming the tragedies that prompted me to start working with leather, and I want you to experience that through the thoughtfulness and care I take with each item.

We've been loving these dopp kits for a little over a year now. Travel may look a little different in 2020, but hopefully you're finding ways to have adventures and get out and explore!

Our dopp kits are perfectly suited to carry all your toiletry essentials, but they are capable of so much more! This year we purchased an ; we keep one dopp kit on board to carry all our cables and chargers, another dopp kit holds our four walkie talkies, and I bring my personal dopp kit full of my daily toiletry essentials.

Not sure if y’all saw my story from last night, but apparently the Instagram robots don’t like to see the word “sanitizer” in the name of a product listed for sale. All of our existing product tags for our hand sanitizer holders have been removed Our apologies on behalf of the Instabots if this caused you any confusion!

Going forward we are renaming this product - “leather hand purifier holders.” Hopefully this will be acceptable!

Our new product name is currently under review, once it’s approved all previous and future product tags should be good to go. For now, in you’re interested in picking up a hand “purifier” holder, we’ve got a link in our bio that’ll get you where you need to be!

What a happy day! I was looking for a product for a totally unrelated order and guess what I found?? A whole gaggle of hand sanitizer holders in natural leather!

I love finding hidden treasures like these!

When I was in college, I would take a $20 bill and leave it in the pocket of a winter jacket right as we were transitioning into spring. Then the next winter, having forgotten about the cash, I would put on the jacket and have the best day ever when I found the money!

Maybe I’m still subconsciously leaving myself Easter eggs...or maaaaaaybe my closet is a touch disorganized. 🤷🏼‍♂️

It’s been sooooo nice to be home to rest and get (sorta kinda) caught up on life, but I gotta tell ya, I am FOR REAL missing that RV life on the road!

We’re using this brief time at home to bang out some inventory and get orders fulfilled, and now we’re chomping at the bit to get back out there!

Also, swipe to see some of that girl dad life in action! B is forever requesting pigtail braids, and the only reason I know how to braid is from leatherworking!

A few years ago I did a custom art installation for a ski lodge in Montana where I did two seven foot long braids with arrows inlaid made by a Native American tribe in Utah! I’ll post that one in this series too!

It’s back to school season which is usually a time of great excitement and anticipation!
But with just about everything in 2020, this year is...”different.”

If you’re sending your littles back to school this year and would like a way for them to carry their own YL branded hand sanitizer, we still have several hand sanitizer holders available on pre-sale.

The hand sanitizer holders have an integrated solid brass key clip so you can attach the hand sanitizer to a backpack, purse, gym bag, whatever!

Orders placed this week will ship out either at the end of this week or early next week.
