Travel insurance is key
Travel insurance is one of the most important pieces of purchasing a vacation and you should strongly recommend that your clients get it. Why?
There is always a chance a trip could get canceled:
A missed flight
Extreme weather or worldwide event
Lost luggage
An unexpected illness
And as you know, there could be a lot more. With the peace of mind that travel insurance offers, your family travelers don’t have to worry when the unexpected comes up.
New travel guidelines for families
Travel has changed a bit and there are some new guidelines and rules to follow. First, in the U.S., travelers must wear a mask in airports, on airplanes, on trains and all other types of public transportation, as well as in national parks and on other federal lands.
And then there’s COVID-19 testing. The CDC now requires all air passengers entering the U.S. to get a viral test within three days before their flight to the U.S. To meet this demand, many resorts in Mexico and the Caribbean are offering on-site testing – so convenient! You can easily find these hotels in VAX’s booking engine by using the new “COVID test onsite” filter.
Travel docs single-parent families may need
When traveling it’s important your clients’ have the correct documentation to board, enter a country or check into a hotel or resort. While traveling with children AND being a single-parent can be tough, it is important you have the correct documentation for each child - passport, a notarized Child Travel Consent Form and proof of relationship.
International travel with kids can be done
Some families may shy away from traveling internationally with their kids because it may seem too difficult, however, it can be done and it can be fun. ! To ensure a successful international travel experience for your clients, make sure you do understand the following: book it right, know the airport amenities, understand TSA rules, prepare air travel with kids and understand how to get passports for kids. And now, know the testing guidelines for the destination and for coming home. The more tips and tricks you tell your client about, the greater chance of them going through with the booking!
Understanding TSA rules
TSA rules shouldn’t deter your clients from traveling, especially if they have very small children. For example, formula, breast milk and juice for infants in excess of 3.4 ounces can be in a carry-on bag, but travelers MUST notify TSA officers of it before they are screened. And all travelers must wear a mask throughout the airport and through the TSA checkpoint, except for kids under 2. TSA has a web page dedicated to traveling with children with more details.
