Venice: Then & Now Discover the extraordinary city of Venice on an inspiring tour leading us from the art of the Middle Ages to the present day with the Venice Biennale.

Discover the extraordinary city of Venice through the looking glass of art and architecture. This inspiring tour will lead us from the art of the Middle Ages and Renaissance all the way to the present day with the Venice Biennale, a massive international contemporary art exhibition that includes work by over 158 artists from more than 88 countries. Led by NMSU art historian, Professor Margaret Goe

hring, and NMSU University Gallery Director, Marisa Sage, the itinerary will include in-depth exploration of the alluring floating city of Venice and its outlying islands. While in Venice, we will track the history of the Biennale from its inception in 1895 to present day, and study its influence on contemporary art practice as well as how current art trends are integrated into the fabric of the ancient city of Venice itself.
