Roaming with the Romingers Two married, quirky, and ambitious twenty-somethings, who woke up one morning and decided to travel the world.

On our blog we'll be sharing lots of honest thoughts, telling stories using photographs, and posting some super weird (but hopefully endearing) videos along the way. Follow us as we embark on this exciting, brand new adventure!

Sorry for all the recent silence! We have a big update for y'all. :)

In between leaving Nepal and going to Bali, Chris was presented with a great job opportunity in our hometown. So rather than moving to Australia to scuba dive, work, and explore for a few months, we decided to head back. WE'RE OFFICIALLY HOME!!

And, guess where our first stop was? Oh. my. goodness did we miss this place!

In a little over 48 hours, we were able to raise and distribute $1200 worth of items for the earthquake victims in Nepal. All thanks to you.

The devastation is real, and so is the corruption with the government distributing relief supplies. Because of your compassion and generosity for others, we were able to personally place these items into the hands of those who truly needed them.

Here's a video showing the highlights of our trip to Nepal

We've met so many awesome, like-minded people along the way, and this guy happens to be one of our favorites. :) Meet our adorably hilarious Vietnamese friend, Dang!

He's been traveling off and on around Asia over the last three years. We ran into him while trekking in Nepal about a month ago and since then we've stuck together while traveling to Bali, Lombok and Gili Meno (two other tiny islands in Indonesia). Our paths are about to part ways, though, with Dang heading to Bangkok in a couple days, and we're already missing him loads. You know a spare bed will *always* be available for you when you come to visit us someday, Dang. :)

For those of you back at home who know our cooking habits (or lack thereof) you may find this humorous. :) We took a 6 hour long Balinese cooking lesson! A little too advanced for our skill level admittedly, but still a really fun experience. And those peanut chicken skewers pictured in the middle? We will at least be attempting those once we come back home, HOLY YUM.

We sampled a ton of different Balinese teas and coffees, but the highlight for us was what was inside this featured white mug. You may not want to know. ;)

Kopi Luwak coffee beans are processed in an unusual way -- a cat-like animal poops out the beans and they're later collected, cleaned, and ground down to create the priciest and rarest coffee in the world. We gave it a good try, but we gotta admit that it wasn't our favorite. One thing was for sure though, it was hands down the smoothest coffee we've ever tasted!

Chris was eating a fresh pack of mentos as he walked in the entrance of monkey temple. This little guy caught one glimpse of the mentos and within 30 seconds had climbed up Chris' body, snatched the mentos out of Chris' hand, climbed back down and began helping himself to his new treat.
Apparently nothing gets past these feisty Balinese monkeys..!

This is what $300 USD can buy for earthquake victims in Nepal!
While it doesn't look like much, this is 16 pairs of shoes, 10 children's fleece jackets, 10 rain ponchos, purification tablets for 350 liters of water, and 38 t-shirts we just purchased!!

These goods will go to help families in the Dhading District which is where the epicenter of the main earthquake was. Entire villages in Dhading were leveled and the people literally have nothing.

Thanks for the donations so far, please keep sharing so we can continue helping as much as possible during the time we're here!

MIND IS SERIOUSLY BLOWN. This world is SO tiny.

Here's how our insane dinner tonight in Kathmandu, Nepal went. There are no empty tables at the restaurant, so waiter asks a random girl who is sitting alone if we can join her at her table. We sit together, place our order, and start casual conversation.

Girl: So I assume you're also from America, right? I recognize the accent and haven't heard much of it!

Us: Yep, from America - it's weird, we can probably count the number of Americans we've ran into on two hands!

Girl: Where are you from?

Us: North Carolina, and you?

Girl: Really? Actually, me too!

Us: Really? No way. Where from?

Girl: Asheville.

Seriously?! Kristin goes to UNCA and is currently studying abroad in Malaysia, and just so happened to be vacationing in Kathmandu. We have SEVEN mutual facebook friends. The more we travel the more convinced I am of how incredibly tiny this world we live in is.
