I met Heather and John about three years ago when she was pregnant with Jace. Recently Heather found a small lump in her breast that doctors had no concern over. She was proactive and wanted to make sure. The worst news came later. She is now about to embark on the fight of her life. She will have unconventional treatment and will have many costly trips flying back and forth to treatment. Please share. She is an educator and so very young.

Sometimes bad things happen to good people and the worst of things happend to Heather Giao. An active and energetice soon to be 38 year old mother of a two year old boy, who according to her blood work, is healthy as a whistle and has no syptoms associated with cancer. Unfortunately the blood...

So well said

Dear Halstead Family,

What can the world say to tell you that you’re so loved? That we’re sorry? That we wish life was fair? That we’d like to help, but really, we know there’s nothing we can do to mend broken hearts?

The world wept with the story of the two year old Georgia boy who, when outside playing at his child care center, was struck by a limb as it fell from a tree. Tripp suffered a traumatic brain injury and spent months recovering at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.

"The world as we knew it stopped on October 29, 2012," you shared.

But you never stopped, for five years, you’ve allowed us a glimpse into your life through those loving Tripp Halstead Updates. You’ve shown us that strength comes from within and that joy can be found in the most unlikely of circumstances.

Yesterday, you went to wake your 7 year old son for school, an only child, and noticed he was having trouble breathing and took him to the ER. He was transported to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta where you precious Tripadoo left this earth.

For the last five years, families from around the world have marveled at your strength. You’ve shared a life that hasn’t been easy and admitted that the anniversaries of that day, the one in which your son walked and called you Mama for the last time, bring you to your knees.

You’ve divulged your heart, pondered life with a son whose future changed in an instant. You’ve talked openly about the unexpected path and mused about what ifs, being parents to the boy who was to have had a sister even though he said before the accident and her miscarriage- No baby!

Thank you for making a difference and reminding us to find beauty in every day. You said this on the last anniversary of your son’s accident.

“I have been a strong mommy for 5 years, I think it’s ok to be sad thinking about that day. I can always be strong again tomorrow.”

We think so, too.

Love,
The World

Top New Year resolution for so many is to get fit and lose weight. We found someone we LOVE to follow. She is a coach and makes us smile with her funny stories everyday. She is all about women helping women feel good about themselves and forms communities of women who love and support one another through their workouts. No matter what your fitness level, age, or weight, we think you will LOVE her and LOVE the beachbody program. We cannot believe how much we love it, especially during a time when we need flexibility in our workout times and struggle to find time for a gym. Check her out .and.squats on Instagram. If nothing else start following her. She does tons of giveaways and her daily stories will have you rolling with laughter.

Little buddy Tripp is still in ICU with pneumonia. We hope he is able to go home soon. :(

Stacy's ICU update:

We are all settled in for the night. The Dr thinks Tripp caught a cold at school that turned into pneumonia and caused labored breathing which caused his carbon dioxide to go up. He said it could happen super fast. He was fine on Saturday.

So we are here to get his breathing under control and get a round of antibiotics through his IV to knock out his infection.
The Dr said we will be here for a few days.

Saw a question I wanted to address:
Why don't we home school? Very legit question.

1st. I am completely unqualified to try to teach Tripp anything. Especially since his accident.
2nd. He loves people and kids. He loves going to school. He loves interacting with others.
3rd. I don't think it's good to keep him in a bubble so to speak.

We are a "on the go" family. Movies, aquariums, picnics, beach, lake, Kroger, etc so I think if I kept him home from school, he would just get the germs from somewhere else.

As many brain issues Tripp has, he is extremely healthy. He is never snotty or sneezing or has a fever. He is happy the majority of the time. I have posted pic after pic of him smiling this past month. I'm so proud of how far he has come! This is just a minor setback.

I'm praying for a nice easy night and he can go home Thursday.
Thank you for all your prayers and support. Love you all!!
