Kedarkantha Trek, ( 4 nights / 5 days)
Over view
Kedarkantha peak, Located in the mountains of the Tons river valley is a beautiful ridge peak, easily accessible anytime of the year. Going through the Govind National Park, the trek is embraced with a variety of flora and fauna, makingit even more appealing, adventurous and fulfilling. The summit lies at an altitude of 3850m above sea level and reaching the summit feels very rewarding as you get a 360-degree view of peaks of Uttarakhand like the Swargarohini, Bandarpoonch, Black peak, Ranglana among the Yamunotri and Gangotri ranges. Stretching below, the Har Ki Dun valley makes an appearance. On the north-west, ranges of Himachal Pradesh - that extends into Kinnaur ranges are visible and the Rupin valley makes its way to Himachal on the west. And towards the east, villages like Purola and Mori are visible. The trek is recommended for all the beginners who are in love with snow and high altitude.
Recommended Itinerary.
Day 01 : Rishikesh - Sankri (166 kms/ 7/8 hrs Drive)
Arrive Rishikesh in the Morning and Drive Sankri, going into the Yamuna valley via Dehradun, Mussoorie, and the Kempty falls, finally descending into the Tons river valley, crossing towns such as Yamuna River, Purola, Mori and Netwar, Sankri is the last village connected to the motor road. This picturesque village is about 13 Kms inside the Govind Wild Life Sanctuary (Netwair is the place where the check post is located). Sankri is the gateway to the almost untouched Har-ki-dun (3566m) with the Swargarohini Peak(6096m) towering above it in the backdrop. Overnight in Home stay /Tent.
Day 02: Sankri - Judo Ka Talab ( 3/4 hrs. Trek)
In the morning after breakfast trek towards Juda Ka Talab. Cross the village Saur and the road takes a wide curve. Later climb sharply to next to a stream. The trail gets into the pine forest and starts to climb until you reach a ridge ten minutes later. On the ridge the trail evens out and widens for almost the rest of the day. Overnight stay in Tents.
Day 03: Juda Ka Talab - Kedar Kantha Base ( 4/5 hrs. Trek)
The trail out of Juda Ka Talab is clearly visible and straight forward. The trail rises to a ridge at the edge of the lake. At the ridge take a sharp left and dive into the dense pine forest climbing higher. Avoid the trail that goes ahead and down (that is another trail to Sankri used by shepherds). Overnight stay in Tents,
Day 04: Kedar Kantha Base- Kedar Kantha Peak 3850m. 6/7 hrs return trek to Sankari / Judo Ka Talab,
In the morning view the sunrise from the Kedar Kantha Base / Top, is as startling as the sunset. It is something worth to explore and start early morning, reach Sankari & Overnight stay in Tent.
Day 05: Judo Ka Talab- Sankri – Dehradun, ( 2 hrs. Trek & 7/8 hr Drive)
Morning after Breakfast and Lunch on the way, On arrival we will drop you either Train station or air port so one can depart to there next Destination
