CEBUB TRAVEL GUIDE from Ian Caaya

DIY Backpacking South+City Cebu (4D4N)

Moalboal - Badian - Alegria - Dalaguete - Ginatilan - Samboan - Oslob - Sibonga - Cebu City

It was a tiring trip but I tell you, it's really worth the pain. 😂✌️

I've noticed that several here are asking for Cebu itinerary. So I'm sharing to you my itinerary with actual expenses:

Day 1: Moalboal + Badian + Alegria
📍Pescador Island (Island Hopping, Turtle Watching, Sardines Rub)
📍Canyoneering Adventure
📍Kawasan Falls

1:00 - ETA Mactan Cebu Airport
1:15 - Packed Snack @ 7 eleven (62)

V-hire which travels directly from airport to SM City Cebu for 40php has a last trip of 9pm. Since we don't have any idea yet about commuting the area, we opted to ride a cab from airport to South Cebu Bus Terminal.

1:30 - Taxi to South Bus Terminal - 212/2= (106)
Parking fee of taxi - 10/2= (5)
2:00 - ETA South Cebu Bus Terminal / Boarding

Unfortunately, there were no aircon buses available by that time. And there was only 1 bus (ordinary) available. We rode a bus with signage "bato via barili" and alighted @ Moalboal town proper (7 eleven bus stop tabi ng angel's burger).

2:30 - ETD Ordinary Bus to Moalboal (115)

Travel time is approximately 2.5-3hrs but the ordinary bus that we rode made it for 2hours. So we arrived 1hour earlier than our ETA.

4:30 - ETA Moalboal / Drop Off @ 7 eleven in front of angel's burger / breakfast (40)

Initially, we already had a contact for moalboal-canyoneering-osmeña peak tour. 2 months before ko pa ata siya nakausap na siya ang kukunin ko for the said tour. Unfortunately, the day before our tour, he texted me that he can no longer join us because he had an on-going package tour that day so he will just assist us through his cousin.

Yung ang tagal niyo na nag usap tas last minute bigla kayong ipapasuyo sa iba. Badtrip di ba? 😡

So tip ko lang, once na may nakuha kayong contact for tour especially kung freelancer na habal lang, wag kayo magbigay ng downpayment. You'll never know at the last minute baka bigla lang kayong ipasa sa iba. And kung kukuha kayo ng tour agency, background check muna kayo sa reviews and tagged photos to make sure na legit.

Good thing was I have a friend who happens to be on south cebu as well and upon checking, they will also be doing moalboal+canyoneering for our 1st day, so we opted to join with them to cut expenses for pescador boat and of course, mas masaya kung may kakilala ka while doing an extreme activity. 😂😜

As for Pescador Island and Canyoneering Adventure, I will recommend:
✔️ Jojo Indino - 09158561375 or you may PM him on FB

We got our package tour for 1600php (Pescador Island Joiner + Canyoneering Adventure)

The good thing was van ang mode of transpo niya, hindi habal. Very comfortable yet super mura. If you'll get a 3d2n package on him, van will be your mode of transpo.

6:00 - Pick up by Kuya Jojo
7:00 - Start of Island Hopping (1600)

Activity consists of Island Hopping, Turtle Watching, and Sardines Run.

9:00 - End of Pescador Island Hopping
9:10 - ETD for Snack
9:20 - Snack (20)
10:00 - ETD to Badian Canyoneering

Don't forget to bring your dry bags and waterproof your gadgets especially cellphones if you will be doing this activity. It is best to use action cam for this activity. If you don't have trekking sandals, there are available aqua shoes on the gearing station which is included in the canyoneering package. Also, the gearing station have lockers so no worries where to put your valuables.

10:30 - ETA Badian Canyoneering / Signing of Waiver
11:00 - Habal to Canyoneering Start Point
11:30 - ETA Canyoneering Start Point / Start Trek

At the first half of canyoneering, you will see along the way these ihaw2 vendors for which you can buy hotdogs and isaw for 40php each.

13:30 - ETA First Half of Canyoneering / Buy Ihaw2 (40)
14:00 - Continuation of Canyoneering Trek
16:30 - ETA Kawasan Falls
17:00 - End of Canyoneering Adventure

Since we don't have any bookings for accommodation, we chose to stay @ gearing station which also offers fan accommodation/hostel @ Badian, namely as "House of Joepro Hostel". Rate per night is 300php and the place is not that hot because there are plenty of fans on the room.

17:15 - Back to Gearing Station / House of Joepro Hostel
Rate per night - (300)
17:30 - Snack (17)
17:45 - Wash Up / Rest
19:00 - Dinner (70)
20:00 - Socials / Lights Off

Total = 2375 💶💸💰

Day 2: Dalaguete + Mantalongan + Ginatilan + Sambaoan
📍Osmeña Peak
📍Inambakan Falls (Level 1-5)
📍Binalayan Hidden Falls
📍Ponong Lake

Since we canceled our agreed tour on my first contact, Kuya Jojo assisted us with his recommended habal driver to have a habal for our osmeña peak tour. Rate per head is 400php inclusive of habal roundtrip transfer (badian-dalaguete-mantalongan-badian). Tour to osmeña is best to do during early morning in order to witness the sunrise.

4:30 - Habal to Osmeña Peak Tourism Office (400)
5:30 - ETA Osmeña Peak Tourism Office
Registration fee - 30
Guide fee - 250/2= (125) - not fixed / still depends on you

The challenging part is that I'm not used to trekking stuff, so I had a hard time going up plus the trail was so slippery because it rained few hours before we trek. Though they are saying that Osmeña Peak is one of the easiest trail that a mountaineer can trek. Talaga ba? Hahaha jusko ang weak ko pala. 😂🤣 I also didn't rent for a trekking pole which I realize it is very essential for beginners' hike. Lesson learned, wag kayo gagamit ng sandugo sandals kasi super dulas sa trail. 😂🤣

5:40 - Trek to Osmeña Peak
6:00 - ETA Osmeña Peak
7:00 - Trail back to Osmeña Peak Tourism Office
7:20 - ETA Osmeña Peak Tourism Office

Prices of the food is very cheap. Imagine that you can buy a rice for 5php and viands ranges for 5php and 10php.

7:25 - Breakfast (27)
7:45 - Habal back to House of Joepro Hostel
8:55 - ETA House of Joepro Hostel

There are buses along the way beside the accommodation which you may ride.

As per local, Mainit Hot Spring Resort in Malabuyoc is closed due to conflict with local government and land owners due to cashing in on tourists.

So we decided to ride a bus and alight @ Ginatilan for Inambakan Falls adventure. Fare is 40php.

Unfortunately, the bus that we rode forgot to alight us on the Inambakan Start Point, so we decided to go to our next destination @ Samboan which is the Binalayan Falls and be back to Inambakan after Binalayan. We added additional 9php for the fare.

9:00 - Bus to Binalayan (40+9)
10:00 - ETA Binalayan Falls Jump off / Registration
Entrance Fee - (40)
Guide Fee - 150/2= (75) - not fixed / still depends on you

I must say that it is a blessing in disguise that the bus forgot to alight us @ Inambakan because we got the best tour guide @ Binalayan which offered us to assist as well for Inambakan Falls and Aguinid Falls adventure. We deal for 200php plus guide fee for Roundtrip Habal for Inambakan and Aguinid. There is no fixed guide fee rate for them and it is up to you how much you will give them.

10:15 - Start Trek to Binalyan Falls
10:25 - ETA Binalayan Falls
11:15 - Trek Down to Binalayan Registration Office
11:30 - ETA Binalayan Registration Office
11:45 - Habal to Samboan Public Market
12:00 - ETA Samboan Market / Lunch (54)
12:20 - Habal to Inambakan Falls (200)
12:40 - ETA Inambakan Falls / Registration (40)
Guide Fee - (200) - not fixed / still depends on you
✔️ medyo malaki yung guide fee na binigay ko sa kanya kasi na-overwhelmed talaga ako sa bait niya. Super tutok talaga siya sa bawat steps ko sa trail and super effort niya magpicture. 😂👌🤗

12:45 - Start of Inambakan Adventure (Falls Level 1-5)

The challenging part was it rained heavily and the trail going up was very slippery so you need to be extra careful. Anyway, your tour guide is there for you to guide where you must step your feet. 😂

Inambakan adventure is consisting of chasing waterfalls which is still underrated to tourists. Include this in your itinerary if you want to have an extreme adventure yet I'm sure you will enjoy. I must say this adventure is more difficult than canyoneering because the trail to Inambakan is steeper.

14:45 - End of Inambakan Adventure

We haven't gone to Aguinid Adventure due to heavy rain and as per our tour guide, the current of falls there whenever it rains is very strong. So for safety reasons, we opt not to go. As an alternative, our tour guide suggested to go to Ponong Lake which is located @ Samboan for us to have a "relaxation time" daw. Hahaha. Kakastress kasi yung experience namin sa Inambakan. Super pagod lang talaga. Hahaha.

15:00 - Habal to Ponong Lake
15:20 - ETA Ponong Lake / Registration (20)
16:10 - Habal back to Binalayan Start Point
16:15 - ETA Binalayan Start Point / Wash Up / Snack (12)

For Binalayan + Inambakan + Ponong + Aguinid + Ponong Lake Tour, you may contact:
✔️ Kuya Raymond - 09226843169
Nakalimutan ko yung name nung kasama niya. Yung kasama niya kasi talaga yung naging guide ko. Hahaha. Wala kasi siya contact number.

There is no direct bus from Binalayan Samboan to Oslob Tanaw-an. You may ride a habal going to Ceres Bus Terminal then from terminal, ride a bus bound to "Bato via Oslob".

17:00 - Habal to Ceres Bus Terminal (50)
17:15 - ETA Ceres Bus Terminal / Snack (20)
17:30 - Bus to Brgy. Tanaw-an bound to "Bato via Oslob" (20)
18:00 - ETA Brgy. Tanaw-an Oslob

Just tell the driver to alight you @ Oslob Whale Shark Encounter Jump off proper.

We stayed @ "Sharky Hostel" which is only besides the Oslob Whale Shark Encounter Gate. This accommodation is a non-aircon hostel, but don't worry super presko sa room. They have 2 stand fans and nasolo namin dahil kami lang nag-avail sa room that time. 😂

I am recommending this hostel because the caretaker of this hostel "Nanay Zeny" will help you organize your schedule to whale shark encounter as early as possible and to join you to other groups for sumilion boat which will cut your expenses. Besides, I am deeply overwhelmed by her hospitality. Binigyan niya ako ng food, water, pinahiram ng snorkle, pati sunblock pinahiram din hahahaha. Kulang nalang wag na pagbayarin ng rent. Hahaha joke. 😂😜🤣

18:15 - Tricycle to Sharky Hostel (10)
18:30 - ETA Sharky Hostel / Check-in (360)
19:00 - Dinner (55)
20:00 - Back to Sharky Hostel
21:00 - Socials / Lights Off

Total = 1527 💸💰💵

Day 3: Oslob + Sibonga
📍Whale Shark Encounter
📍Sumilion Island Sandbar
📍Tumalog Falls
📍Oslob Old Church and The Ruins
📍Blessed Virgin Mary of Simala Shrine

Start of Whale Shark Encounter is @ 6am. So if you're planning to go on other tourist spot along oslob, better to start your whale shark encounter as early as 6am to avoid heavy crowd.

5:00 - Preparation / Wash Up
5:30 - ETD to Whale Shark Interaction
5:35 - Registration (500)
5:50 - Start of Whaleshark Interaction Orientation

I suggest magtanggal na kayo ng lifevest to have a good capture underwater with whalesharks. Hindi ako sanay lumangoy ng malalim pero bigla lang ako natuto dahil kailangan ko makapagpic sa whalesharks hahaha. 😂😂😂

6:00 - Start of Whaleshark Interaction
6:45 - End of Whaleshark Interaction
6:50 - ETA Sharky Hostels / Breakfast (20)
7:30 - Habal to Sumilion Start Point (10)
8:00 - Boat to Sumilion Sand Bar (400)

Your time to sumilion depends on you on how long you want to stay. If you need to go back, just tell the boatman the exact time that they will fetch you in order to go back to Sumulion Start Point.

8:20 - ETA Sumilion Sand Bar

There are some instances that baby sharks are present on the island. In our case, we didn't encounter one. Safe naman daw kapag maliit lang. Kapag malaki eh tumakbo ka na. 😂🤣

9:30 - Boat back to Sumilion Start Point
9:50 - ETA Sumilion Start Point
10:00 - Habal to Tumalog Start Point (100)
10:20 - Habal to Tumalog Registration (50)
10:30 - ETA Tumalog Falls / Registration (20)

Note that may mga part na bato at may part na lupa ang maaapakan mo. Medyo creepy lang kapag natapak ka sa lupa medyo hirap iangat ng paa.

May doctor fish pool din sa bungad pagkapasok ng entrance. Pwede kayo mag fish spa doon.

11:30 - ETD Back to Tumalog Start Point
11:40 - ETD Back to Sharky Hostel
12:00 - ETD Sharky Hostel / Wash Up
12:30 - Lunch (55)
12:45 - Tricycle to Oslob Cuartel - 100/2= (50)

You may also go there via bus. Just ride a bus bound to Cebu City and tell the driver to alight you @ Oslob Cuartel. Landmark is the 7 eleven on the left side.

13:10 - ETA Oslob Cuartel
14:00 - Ordinary Bus to Sibonga Town Proper (70)
15:30 - ETA Sibonga Town Proper

You need to ride a tricycle or habal going to Simala Church, 20php each one way. 40php for roundtrip.

15:35 - Tricycle to Simala Church (40)
15:45 - ETA Simala Church
16:20 - Tricycle Back to Sibonga Town Proper
16:30 - ETA Sibonga Town Proper / Snack (25)
16:45 - Ordinary Bus to South Cebu Bus Terminal (65)
19:00 - ETA South Cebu Bus Terminal

It was rush hour and we failed to ride a jeep bound to SM City Cebu via "01k". No choice but we rode a taxi from south terminal to sm city cebu.

19:15 - Taxi SM City Cebu - 90/2= (45)
19:30 - ETA SM City Cebu

Initially, we were about to go to 10,000 roses via V-hire bound to Cordova since kaya pa naman ng oras. But the line of passengers is too long. We decided not to push. 😂😐

20:00 - Dinner (125)

While having a free time at SM, we were already looking for accommodation where we can stay in cebu city via Traveloka App. We chose to book a hostel @ Cebu Guest Inn in Lahug since it is already near JY Square where meetups for mountain tour is held. Also, it is the cheapest among other hostels posted yet the ratings of the hostel is somewhat high. Plus, our tour guide's house is near the said hostel. 😂 So nag G na talaga kami dun.

21:00 - Taxi to Cebu Guest Inn Lahug - 140/2= (70)

Just tell the taxi driver to alight you @ CPI school. Cebu Guest Inn is just beside the CPI. Medyo tago yung place niya and mahirap hanapin kasi maliit lang yung signage. But the landmark is @ CPI.

We got our aircon accommodation for 200php only, inclusive of traveloka app discount.

21:30 - ETA Cebu Guest Inn Lahug
21:45 - Check-in @ Cebu Guest Inn via Traveloka App (200)
22:00 - Socials / Lights Off

Total = 1825 💶💰💸

Day 4: Cebu City Tour

6:30 - Preparation / Wash Up

Since July pa ata kami magkachat neto before pa ko mag avail sa kanya ng tour kasi nagtatanong tanong din ako about itinerary sa kanya. Super bait niya. 😂Utang na loob siya ang kunin niyo for City Tour. 😂🤣

21:00 - End of Mountain + City + Cordova Tour

❌ Unfortunately, Temple of Leah is closed due to landslide incident 2 days before we had our City Tour. Iyakkkkk. 😢😞😭

BALABAC, PALAWAN TRAVEL GUIDE from Joane Naluan

Here’s the link 👇

https://www.facebook.com/100000516541076/posts/2377204665640062/

Is Balabac worth to visit?

If you're a beach bummer and want some sunkissed skin,then it's a big YES!😉👍

Balabac is one of the hidden places located at the southernmost part of Palawan. It is composed of over 30 islands and islets. For like 3-4 hours, you can almost reach Sabah in East Malaysia. It is nearer than Puerto Princesa.

One of the best island you can find in Balabac is ONUK ISLAND where they call it "Maldives of Palawan"
It's a perfect place to experience both sunrise and sunset while listening to the sound of the waves and having some cup of tea or coffee.
This ring-shaped coral reef is filled with sapphire blue waters with powdery-soft white sand, sea turtles all around and a long sandbar that all you could wish for is to lay there 'til you can. 🙏
For a first timer there, once you land on the beach, you cannot help yourself but get mesmerized and feast your eyes to the view of crystal waters, find a perfect spot for your "instagrammable" post, play like a kid to their fine white sand, swim, dive, eat and have fun! 😍💕
You will almost feel insane and wishing you could stay there forever
(Travel is life but work is lifer!😂✌️
Save now. Travel later😉)

Don't miss the chance to stay overnight than just a daytour visit.
Overnight stay costs 3,500/pax with full board meals while daytour only is 1,500/pax daytour meals not included. A bit pricey but totally worth it! Swear!🤚

VERY IMPORTANT NOTICE
Onuk Island is an exclusive island that's why you need to secure your approval from SB Toto for your Onuk Day Tour or overnight stay through your local tour coordinator. Without his approval, you can't enter the island or if you are almost on your way to the island, you'd be asked to leave the island immediately. Don't be an intruder. 👊
Ask for permission first. 👍

There are more island you could visit in Balabac.
Some of the islands are
•Punta Sebaring (longest white sand beach )
•Candaraman (multiple sandbars + starfish)
•Canibongan (snorkeling site)
•Mansalangan (long sandbar)
•Camiaran (Pink Island)
•Nasubata Reef (snorkeling site)
•Sicsican
•Pulao Bato
•Patawan
•Patunggong

HOW TO GET THERE?
Expect 10-12 long hours of travel by land and sea to get to Balabac. Yes that's too far! 🙂

1. Book a flight to Puerto Princesa if you're from outside Palawan
2. From Airport, ride a tricycle or multicab going to San Jose Terminal.
3. At San Jose Terminal, ride the shuttle or bus to Rio Tuba.
1st trip is 3am and your arrival to Rio Tuba must be 7am
4. From RioTuba, make your way to Marabahay Port. Only 1 trip is scheduled each day going to Balabac town so you need to be early in the port because coast guard is strict in manifestation. Once the manifest is full, probably you'll take your next trip the next day. The trip leaves at 10-11am and takes for 4-5 hrs. You might arrived in Balabac town at 3-4pm. Your first day must considered as travelling day so no island hopping activity for that day. All you could do is to explore the town or buy some Malaysian products like chocolates, noodles, mineral water, ci******es, beverages, or any goods that are mostly from Malaysia.

But if you were able to arrange your tour from your tour provider. From Puerto Princesa, the van will directly transfer you to Buliluyan port. Then from Buliluyan, your boat operator will pick you up there and your tour may start from there to see some islands and you'll do an overnight camping in Candaraman Island. The next day is a whole day island hopping tour.

TIP:
*If you're a solo traveler and planning to customize your tour destinations,it would be a lot more expensive especially if you include Onuk Island. Better to be a joiner. Join in a group tour to be less hassle and no more botherings for your transpo, ferry and accomodation.
*Considering the long journey from Puerto Princesa, you should at least plan your trip for like 4-5days especially if you plan to stay overnight in Onok Island. The first two days and the last day are mostly spent in travelling, while the rest are whole day island tours.
*Bring your own snorkeling gears. It is not provided but sometimes boat crews have their extras. Still, better bring if you have one.
*Waterproof cases for phones or dry bags. To store and keep your stuffs dry during tours. You should enjoy swimming in the ocean but your phone should ot also swim,it must be a BIG problem then😂
*Being tanned is okay. But it's still okay to bring some sunscreen/sunblock lotions to protect your skin from the sun. Not only in the sun, since you'll be staying in some islands overnigh, also bring some mosquito or insect repellants.
*Bring your batteries or powerbank since only Balabac town has electricity. There's no 24-hours electricity in the island and generators are generally for night lights. So bring not only one or two but more than powerbanks for you will not be more worry for your next photoshoot day😂
*No ATMs in the town. Bring extra cash. Only Palawan Pawnshop.
*If you don't want your vacation be a mess, don't visit December-January. It's Amihan time.
Best time is SUMMER

Tour Options are
1. 1 day tour
2. 2 Days/1Night tour
3. 3 Days/2Nights tour
4. 4 Days/3 Nights tour
5. Overnight Stay at Onuk Island
