Description of Webb Rail's "Babbling Brook":
This example of railroading history is preserved largely in its original form and
serves as a private railcar today. for the New York Central Railroad as a 5 double
bedroom, buffet, observation lounge and operated on their famed streamliner
the "New England States" which operated between Boston and Chicago. until 1958 when the car was retired and sold to the
Canadian Pacific Railroad and renamed Seaview. The CPR operated the car
between Montreal-Ottawa-Toronto, CPR retired the car in 1969 and sold it to the
Quebec Mining Company and they renumbered the car to #847. During its
ownership under Quebec Mining Company the car was used as an official car for
QMC & US Steel executives. QMC sold the car in 1986 to a private owner in the
United States and since the QMC railroad was landlocked the car had to be shipped
by barge to live rail and then shipped back to the U.S. Once the car arrived back in
the U.S. it was rebuilt to Amtrak certification and has been an active car ever since. Currently owned by Webb Rail LLC.

Our friends at Rapido Trains Inc. are producing an HO scale version of WEBX 2024 (NH 2058) in its rebuilt configuration, the first locomotive that we purchased. It is currently under restoration, plans are being developed but nothing is finalized. We were reminded (ahem) that the order deadline for 1:87 is May 15th, 2024, so we still have some time left to place our order.

Congrats to our friends at Railway Excursion Management Company!

Today, Railexco completed the purchase of property in Madison, IN adjacent to the Madison Railroad. This new property will become home to a passenger railcar shop, company office, and on-site storage facility.

Founded in 2018, Railexco is now a growing company with a focus on leasing, maintaining, and operating passenger rail equipment. When completed, this investment in Madison is expected to support several full-time and part-time employees.

Congrats to our friends at Railway Excursion Management Company on recently adding former New York Central lounge/diner/sleeper "Swift Stream" (RPCX 800460) to their fleet. Webb Rail's former New York Central Railroad Budd built Pullman obs/diner/sleeper "Babbling Brook" (WEBX 800007) was joined by this car on Amtrak Train 42 on Sunday, May 22, 2022. These cars ran together for many years on the "New England States", New York Central's Boston to Chicago overnight train and were reunited for this trip. The train is seen crossing the former Pennsylvania Railroad (now Norfolk Southern) Rockville Bridge, longest stone masonry arch railroad viaduct ever built, over the Susquehanna River from Marysville, Pennsylvania to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Behind the photographer is the Bridgeview Bed & Breakfast, a hotel favorite amongst railfans. - John Webb III

Webb Rail's former Northern Pacific Railway Budd built dome/coach 549 (WEBX 801045) and former Northern Pacific Railway Budd built Pullman dome/sleeper 313 (WEBX 801044) were behind the power on January 2, 2021 as the Amtrak Texas Eagle (Train 21) departed Forth Worth, Texas. The land just south of Tower 55 is being redeveloped for a variety of uses, and the since the photo even the tower itself has fallen as the railroad rebuilds the infrastructure in the area.

Good timing at The Danbury Railway Museum with some of our favorite railroads!

Lightning Striped Reunion. On one of its first trips on the Danbury Line since being wrapped, MNCW P32AC-DM 211 (New York Central Heritage/40th Anniversary) was assigned to MTA Metro-North Railroad Train 1816 on Thursday, December 28, 2023. The train is seen passing in between MNCW 2013 (FL-9), one of two FL-9s painted in NYC tribute colors by Metro-North, and CTDX 2006 (FL-9), one of ten painted in New Haven tribute colors by request of the Connecticut Department of Transportation, both while in revenue service. Both units are long time residents of The Danbury Railway Museum in Danbury, Connecticut, with which special arrangements were made to take this photo outside of the museum's normal operating hours. The Museum rosters more than 60 pieces of equipment in addition to extensive archives and artifacts, primarily housed inside Danbury Union Station.

Webb Rail's former Northern Pacific Railway Budd built Pullman dome/sleeper 313 (WEBX 801044) and former Northern Pacific Railway Budd built dome/coach 549 (WEBX 801045) were behind the locomotive, in the front of the consist on Amtrak 21 (Texas Eagle) on the evening of Sunday, December 27, 2020 as it passed through Shirley, Illinois. The original community was founded on the St. Louis Chicago and Alton Railroad, and spite of its marginalization by the construction of Interstate 55 to replace Old Route 66 as the main thoroughfare, it does have an exit off of the highway, and is home to a post office, several businesses, and the Funk Prairie Home and Gem and Mineral Museum. The Webb Rail cars would continue to Fort Worth, Texas on this excursion, taking a round trip on the Heartland Flyer before going on to San Antonio and returning to Albany-Rensselaer, New York via Chicago, Illinois.

Happy Holidays to those celebrating, stay safe and warm wherever you are today.

Georgia On My Mind. A snowy morning on Sunday, February 26, 2023 greeted Webb Rail's former Union Pacific Railroad Budd built Pullman 10-6 sleeper "Pacific Union" (WEBX 800640) and former New York Central Railroad Budd built Pullman obs/diner/sleeper "Babbling Brook" (WEBX 800007) while they were holding the markers on Amtrak Train 57 (Vermonter) as it crossed the Lamoille River in Georgia, Vermont. The freeze protection on the cars earned its money on this trip as the snow and sub-zero temperatures were relentless, though picturesque.

Santa Goes Home. On December 2, 2018, the Capital Region Toys for Tots deadhead move was returning the equipment to all of the participants when it crossed Moodna Viaduct is Salisbury Mills, New York. The train, running as NS 041, included Webb Rail cars in addition to equipment from Norfolk Southern, the Juniata Terminal Company, Morristown & Erie Railway, and Amtrak and had been brought between Port Jervis and Binghamton, New York in both directions by a pilot crew from THE NEW YORK, SUSQUEHANNA AND WESTERN RAILWAY CORP. for the annual tradition. As we close out 2023, it is a happy moment to be able to reflect on the train returning this year after a 5-year absence to again bring gifts of toys, clothes, and food across the Southern Tier of New York.

The Henry Hobson Richardson 1883 Connecticut River Railroad Station (later Boston and Maine Railroad Station) on the right at the corner of Lyman and Bowers streets has been closed to railroad passengers for decades, but after years of dormancy, hope for survival is real. The property was purchased by a company that announced there would be significant improvements to the building, and recently a tour was conducted for the public. The current Amtrak station, with its well lighted high level platform, is located only a few hundred feet away.

Home Rails Reigns And Rains. On May 2, 2021, Webb Rail's former New York Central Railroad Budd built Pullman obs/diner/sleeper "Babbling Brook" (WEBX 800007) was holding the markers of Amtrak Train 449 (Lake Shore Limited) as it passed through Huntington, Massachusetts during a heavy downpour. The former Boston & Albany Railroad is one of our favorite places to visit with the Babbling Brook, as it was purchased for luxury passenger service on this route.
