This Lily and Lionel (British) dress is for a wedding in Margaret River next weekend. The weather is always cooler down south, but winter event wear will be too warm out in the sunshine. So here's my alternative. Light weight but sleeved and long hem for sun protection during the day and will still look feminine even when I add my sage green leather jacket at night

I've finally found my cashmere hoody (Sonya Hopkins, Sydney). Lucky for me it was in green, not the grey I thought I wanted. Thank you Harpers Emporium, wish you'd told me about these at the beginning of winter when I was in😝

On its way to me from Germany (first non-Australian made purchase this year) these rattan basket bags are going to be big for summer. Cute, cheap and light weight.

From gym to shopping to lunch
Comfy and cool 😎 (even my 20yr old kids thinks so🙃)
Worn with Lululemon leggings, trackies, Country Road jogger jeans, Camilla&Marc dress .......

Season wins and fails:
Green leather skirt was much considered but never worn😞 (fb post 9/5/17)
Cooper St floral dress was my go to evening dress and I felt great every wear😍 (fb post 10/5/17)
Burgundy cardigan (fb post 9/5/17) didn't see much action 😕 but grey cardi (fb post 3/8/17) was out most days😊
All "new" purchases (fb post 3/8/17) were worn regularly (tshirts all died and Reeboks need a good wash)
Spending most days in gym gear I can probably do without 60% of my wardrobe😇

Moody floral dresses for autumn winter.
Do NOT pair with 'sensible' court shoes. Instead step it up with knee high or ankle boots.
Do NOT pair with a 'sensible' cardi. Instead pop on a long line (belted) or "too small" cardi. In the evening pop on your favorite leather jacket.

After a petite trip to KL I am no more "fashion" inspired than when I left.
In saying that I have chosen my winter palette (wine, rose gold, navy blue and sage green) All colours I was drawn to at the end of winter '16.
New tan knee high boots will lighten the rich colours.

Well, there's been a flurry of activity hitting my petite gingerpips fb page, so I expect your all looking forward to rugging up with winter fashion 2017!!

I've just started hitting the shops to see what actually translated from Fashion week, Northern Hemisphere's winter and .... the Aussie buyers take on it all.

Star embellishments are hanging on from winter 2016 and summer 16/17, so hopefully you made a few investments there!

Peep toes ankle boots and long line cardis are a definite trend.

Bear with me, the "penny will drop" soon and I'll have some winter direction for those of you looking for a little guidance.

I know I say this every year around this time, but.....before you hit the awesome SALES:
Make a list of things you NEED (and stick to it)
Don't pay for sale purchases on your credit card (unless you pay it off in full each month) Lay-by is more economical

Cat eye sunglasses - in keeping with the basic rules of glasses 'fit'; i.e. follow the brow line and keep frame no wider than your temples. Not only are you looking great, but you have the benefit of being sun smart AND the upward lift of the cat eye frame gives your face an upward lift also - just saying', those of us over 40 might be needing some upward lift ;-b

For those of you 40+ that have been perusing the latest InStyle, Vogue, ShopTillUDrop, etc mags and are thinking " oh my God, Phillipa threw out all my square toe block heeled slides and sandles and now they are in fashion"! As is much of what I've been seeing towards the end of last summer, the 80's are back! 80's "retro" looks great on teenagers and 20 somethings, but on those who lived through the era, it just looks like we are wearing the clothes we never threw out.
So I'm going to post a few retro spins that will keep you looking "up-to-date" without looking just "dated".
Oh, and I'm super pumped about Melbourne Cup outfits (second day of sunshine and I'm all fidgety) so give me a buzz if you need a little help pulling that outfit together.

Cue - Ethically Produced and Australian - Bomber jackets
Can be styled with jeans for the weekend or a pencil skirt for work.
The crop length of the blue/black bomber will accentuate the waistline
Be careful with the length of the print bomber as this could make curvy girls look 'block-like'. If curvies are in love with the feminine print, perhaps buy a size that fits your arms, shoulders and back, but doesn't necessarily zip up. Wear with a fitted or flared skirt that shows off you shapely legs.
Body shape specific:
blue/black bomber for those with curves
floral bomber for those with a bit of a tummy

Yes, that's me bottom right, supporting Harper's Emporium at the their Fashion Friday event held at the Parmelia.
If there's one thing I'll say about Spring 2016, it's "grab a light weight bomber jacket" - if your in Asia holidaying, keep an eye out for a beautiful traditionally embroidered one!
For those of us over 40 it's a sophisticated way of being on trend without falling fashion victim ;-)

We've all heard it, "less is more". This summer I'm going to try my best to only buy ethically produced clothing made in Australia or New Zealand.
Check out: http://ethicalclothingaustralia.org.au/brands/ to see the brands available. You'll be pleasantly surprised and moderately disappointed all at once.
Check back soon and I'll give you the scoop on which key pieces will update your summer wardrobe at minimum outlay and maximum ethical kudos......

If there are winter clothes you haven't worn yet this winter, they probably need to go to someone who will wear them. Giving you room in your wardrobe to buy that coat you've had your eye on, that is now 70% off.
Have a champagne and swap party with your girlfriends/sisters - there may be some pieces of your's they have coveted that you are 'over'.
Pop them in the local Charity Box or Designer Recycle store.
Remember, you don't need a lot of clothes, just wear the ones you have in multiple ways

You all know I don't like to talk "colour swatches" but I'm prepared to steer you in the right colour direction for winter 2016:
For those of you with Autumn Winter skin tones
Khaki / Forest Green
Burgundy / Wine - NOT PURPLE
Navy Blue
For those with Spring Summer tones
Soft pinks
Soft blue
Beige / dove grey bottoms
For ALL:
Denim shirts
Tan leather skirts (available at RM Williams)
And a bit of sparkle on the boring ole jumpers

Flicking through the latest FashMags, it looks to be a season of "anything goes" AS LONG AS YOU "COMMIT"!!
A good example of this is the "trainer" trend. Great for those of you who spend a lot of time on your feet at work or getting to work.
Paired with tracks pants, jeans, midi skirts/dresses, leather(look) leggings - work, rest or play, you are stylin'
My pick for best white trainer is the Reebok Classic (available at Hype) as the slightly raised heel helps the legs look more slender and toned.
Furthermore I would ALWAYS suggest that the ankle is peeking out.
Enjoy the comfort ;-)

A chill is in the air and, if like me, you are 'challenged' in the wardrobe space department, it's time to bring down the winter storage boxes and ready your summer clothes for a 'rest'.
Items going in and coming out of storage should be freshly laundered, assessed for style/suitability and checked for holes and stains.
Choose the storage system that works best for you and place ALL unwanted items in a charity bin. Too much goes to land fill, so do good by someone in need and the environment at the same time.

A good way to build your 2016 winter wardrobe is:
1- Choose a statement jacket in your favourite colour
2- Check what 'basics' you already have that compliment it
3- Wear it 'up'styled with satin evening pants and a cami
4- Wear it 'down graded' with jeans and a crisp white tshirt
