In July 1944, the Minne-Wa-Wa was purchased by F.F. Montague and renamed the Lady Jean. July 1946 the ship was reconditioned and painted and by the following summer she was once again cruising Lake of the Woods. Sometime in the early 1970's a fire broke out and the boat and boathouse were burned to the water line. The cribs and hull can still be seen today on the island southwest of Tippecanoe Island. Has anyone ever seen the hull? Where exactly is this place?

This old map claims to identify the resting place of two historic boats. Has anyone ever came across the wreckage of these two boats? Here are some details about each boat.
The Swallow was the first stern wheeler on Lake of the woods. It was built in Kenora in 1895 and owned by Captain Clifford Lewis. It did passenger service between Kenora and Fort Francis. It had a state room for 100 passengers on June 6, 1895 at 1:30 in the morning. The boat was on fire. It was repaired from the fire, but when a storm hit Big Traverse, it hit a reef and was wrecked in 1896.
The Agwinde was built in 1900. It was constructed of Douglas for the ship had one of the largest lakes and could easily wash a canoe when it’s passengers up on shore as it passed it also worked a route between Kenora and Fort Francis.

The Clipper was built in 1897 in Kenora and owned by Captain Frank Kendall. It provided both passenger and towing services for over 40 years on August 24, 1899 tragedy struck 15 miles off Long Point captain Kendall left the wheelhouse to speak to the cook about dinner. The water was very rough that day and they were towing a barge. The captain stopped to adjust the tow line and was swept overboard. The boat was going full speed and by the time everything was stopped, he was 400 yards astern and could be seen swimming for a minute before he disappeared under the waves. Two weeks later his body was found 12 miles away in Buffalo Bay. The Clippers registry was closed in 1938 and now it remains along the shore of Calvert Island in Clipper Bay located in Whitefish Bay.
