Behold the magnificent Grachyovka, known as Moscow's Monte Carlo

This is the country estate of the Grachyov merchants in Khovrino. The astonishing palace was constructed in 1899 according to the design of the renowned architect Lev Kekushev. The building was inspired by the casino in Monte Carlo, which is why it's often referred to as Moscow's Monte Carlo. When I first learned about this palace around five years ago, I immediately began to dream of visiting its interior. It's a challenging task, as it currently houses a rehabilitation center.

Moscow is an open-air museum, and the Metropol Hotel is a splendid testament to this fact. Nowhere else in Moscow will you find such a wealth of artistic masterpieces adorning both the façade and interior of the Metropol. It stands as a true monument to the art and architecture of the early 20th century, and the best part is, you don't need a ticket to admire it.
