Who knows why?

Ironman weekend is here. Hopefully the cork county council will see that a train is needed in the future to ferry visitors from the surrounding areas.

THE bus service from Youghal to Cork has been criticised by a Youghal resident who struggles to attend appointments for her breast cancer care.

Youghal is forgotten again but midleton and Cobh get improvements. This needs to be lobbied after the chaos of castlemartyer.

A new transport blueprint for Cork includes a 25-stop light rail system and six new park and ride facilities across the city by 2040.

The same could be said for East Cork there is opportunity for train service to reopen and would help alot of commuters make their commute much easier its ridiculously it's like the rural communities dont exist.

The need for a public transport system in west Cork to rival the one which existed more than a century ago has been raised in the Dál with the Taoiseach.

AMBITIOUS plans for a dedicated cycleway from Dunkettle to Carrigtwohill have been unveiled.

I glad there has been appeal put to the Cork County Councilhttps://www.facebook.com/119874311467/posts/10157139680706468...

Dear Editor,
On 18th.Dec.2018 Cork County Council welcomed the allocation of €500,000 from the Department of Rural and Community Development under the Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme 2018 for the Youghal Eco Boardwalk.
On 14th. Jan.2019 Cork County Councillors unanimously rubberstamped planning permission for a Midleton to Youghal walking and cycling greenway that has been hailed as a game-changer for east Cork tourism.
Having carefully studied the above two announcements, I would appeal to Cork County Council and the Department of Rural and Community Development to reflect again on what they propose to do in and for Youghal.

Public transport especially in a railway would be an ideal investment in the future when the town of youghal will be hosting Ironman for the next 3 years.

07/02/2019

Why cant the councillors see youghal needs a train the amount of vacant businesses is just unbelievable.

15/01/2019

The question I am asking this morning is why go for a greenway when they are already extending a boardwalk? A train in line with a greenway would be so much better.

If the council decide to vote for just a greenway it will be disappointing we need both. Especially with traffic congestion and the longer commuting times to the city.

Cork County Council is to vote next week on plans for a greenway route in the county.

Happy New Year. As we enter 2019 we need to push for a train more than ever.

Imagine the benefit of a train around this time of the year.

It's a shame to see this! The old railway station.

I feel a train would give people with restricted mobility a greater sense of independence to travel to neighbouring towns and villages.

25/10/2018

My question is if the railway is part of Youghal's heritage wouldn't it be wonderful to have the railway and a heritage museum incorporating the history of the railway and how it brought many advantages to the town in years gone by. Another tourist attraction for everybody to enjoy.

Imagine having a tour like the orient express and incorporating the greenway. Ie historical / mystery tours.

It would be lovely to bring excursion trains back as it's part of our history.

It would be lovely to bring excursion trains back as it's part of our history.

A train for public transport is needed. A greenway can run in conjunction with it.
