Howard Bacharach, head of Atlantic City Hotel & Lodging Association, dies at 74
Howard Bacharach, the executive director of the Atlantic City Hotel & Lodging Association and former Caesars Atlantic City executive, died Wednesday night. He was 74.
Mark Juliano, a former Trump Entertainment CEO and longtime industry executive who worked with Bacharach at Caesars for nearly 15 years, said this loss is a tragic one for the town.
“I was really shocked and saddened by his passing,” Juliano said. “He was a mentor to me and to ... a lot of other young people that came up through the business.”
Bacharach had served as the executive director of the lodging association since 2003. Before that he worked for Caesars Atlantic City for nearly two decades, including work as its senior vice president of operations/administration. He also worked for a certified public accounting firm, auditing hotels and motels along the shore.
Bacharach was also well-known for work in the community and was involved in a number of boards and foundations, including the Seashore Gardens Foundation Board, the Atlantic City Regional Chamber of Commerce, the Atlantic County Improvement Authority and several others.
Bacharach will be missed not only for his participation in many area groups, but for his genuine love of Atlantic City.
“He had seen the city transform from when it was a great convention town to the demise in the early ’70s and late ’60s to the rebirth with casinos,” Juliano said. “He was a wonderful historian when it came to the history of Atlantic City, and was always, always one of the biggest supporters of the potential of the town.”
Funeral services will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 11, at the Beth Judah Congregation, located at 700 N. Swarthmore Ave., Ventnor.
