"Sprezzatura" is a beautiful Italian word, yet is much less renowned in Italy than abroad. It's the attitude of people who are glamorous without being aware of it - or at least without showing to be aware.
You can find much "sprezzatura" along the catwalks, that's why this word is so fashionable. But if you look carefully to Italian people you'll realize they move with "sprezzatura" in everyday life, as if the simply walking in the street were actually a defilé.

Adding "sprezzatura" to life means constantly looking for beauty, always caring about details. And whoever knows Italians is well aware their attitude spreads "sprezzatura" all day long. Someone says it's impossible to have it unless you were born in Italy, nevertheless we think everyone may add a pinch of "sprezzatura" to their life.

What a lovely setting for an art history talk, right?

Had a great time speaking about the Art Club’s connections to Italy - including the sculptor Adolfo Apolloni, an early member of the Club who returned to Italy and became Mayor of Rome, and and Italian Senator. Apolloni even sculpted a facsimile of a lost Bernini fountain!

Then emceed a panel with three contemporary Art Club artists who travel to Italy and include Italian themes in their work regularly. Lots of great conversation and questions.

Dear Fellow Travelers,

We are finalizing our lists for our “Feed Your Soul” Painting in Umbria experience in May 2019. This experience is opened to painters and non painters.

If you haven’t done so already please complete the registration form and process your refundable $250 deposit by December 15, 2018. Final payment which is non-fundable is due by January 15th. This is necessary for us to secure all accommodations and venues and for you to book your flight.

Sprezzatura will be offering 2-informational meetings on Tuesday December 11th. The first meeting will be at 8:30 AM at T’s Restaurant in East Greenwich and the second meeting will be at 6:00 PM at 200 Water Place Park condos (an attendant will direct you from the lobby). At these meetings we will share our preliminary itinerary and answer any questions you may have. We have attached the itinerary and registration form for your review.

Following the meeting we will finalize the trip so you may book your flights. If you should have any questions regarding the meeting please email Debora Del Sesto at [email protected]. An event page for this meeting has been created on FaceBook at Sprezzaturaitaly. Kindly RSVP if you are planning on attending so we may plan accordingly.
