A Reverse Wedding List is where your wedding guests buy items from you, not for you, getting around the awkward issue of asking wedding guests for cash and getting rid of that spare blender at the same time.... www.reverseweddinglist.com
Like many modern couples we already lived together and rather than needing more blenders and toasters we needed to get rid of some! It was great
fun to do and a huge hit with our guests and although some of the stuff we listed was one step away from actually being rubbish (congratulations Mike on your shoebox of miscellaneous computer cables), everyone got into the spirit of it and needless to say we ended up having a great honeymoon. Feel free to check out images from our original list on the photos page and if you'd like to create your own list and want to know when the Reverse Wedding List website goes live, email [email protected] with the subject title 'Let Me Know'. A bit more about me...
I’m a first time mum currently on maternity leave and using any spare time I can get to set up the website. I knew starting a website with a newborn would be hard work but felt I needed a project to keep my brain active. A few weeks after my son, Oscar, was born the abrupt change from having a very busy office job to being at home 24/7 changing nappies and feeding was beginning to sink in. To my surprise I suffered bouts of feeling bored and frustrated. I immediately felt guilty - wasn’t having a child suppose to be the most magical experience of my life? I Googled it and thank god found many voices saying the same sort of thing… so when I heard about a ‘Power Maternity Leave’ networking event I had to see what it was all about. I left a 9 week old Oscar with his dad and a boob-load of expressed milk and went to hear some inspirational women speak - including Justine Roberts, the founder of Mumsnet - about their experiences of starting a business with new-borns in tow. I practically ran home afterwards, announcing to Oscar's Dad I was finally going to bite the bullet and start the Reverse Wedding List website I had "banged on" (apparently) about since we got hitched in 2010. So that is what I am currently spending every spare second doing hoping to launch the site in June... I genuinely think it is a fabulous idea... Now all I need are some folk getting hitched who agree...
