This is how Neuro Linguistic Programming can help teachers and students:
When people fail to understand or change in some way, it is not that they are broken but that they are uneducated in how to use their brain and often have an impoverished internal world.
By enriching this world people are able to learn faster and more creatively.
Many of us are now aware of research into left and right brain function, learning styles and accelerating learning.
NLP encompasses all of these areas and moves them beyond theory into application in the classroom.
NLP uses language in powerful and elegant ways to ensure students really understand and are motivated to explore and learn more.
Teaching becomes easier and more enjoyable when you have the skills, behaviours, and attitudes of NLP to help you.
We need to pay our teachers better, train them in learning strategies, and reward them for success. After all knowledge is developing at an accelerating rate, to the point where people have to be able to learn as fast as they can.
Teachers need to teach children to learn things quickly...
We have to get people into the right state of learning only what works and not worrying about mistakes because there is no time.
Right?
With the right skills we can teach people to spell in less a better than average time, figure out what is stopping someone reading well and put it right and find ways to make even so called boring subjects fun to learn.
We can also do more than this.
We can change people’s beliefs so they know how brilliant they can become and build confidence as they gain competence in a subject.

As you probably know
There are many skilled and experienced teachers working tirelessly to educate our young people. It’s not about a group of experts telling them what they should be doing in the classroom but taking the best teachers we have and giving them even more tools to utilise to improve learning.
Teaching is becoming increasingly challenging with disruption in the classroom and increasing emphasis on targets and paperwork.
NLP can really benefit teachers themselves in managing their own state, beliefs and attitudes and most of all maintaining a sense of humour!
As an added benefit to schools is that parents and the community will realize that great things are happening in their transition, therefore giving positive reviews throughout.
Sounds great right?
Well as the momentum for NLP in teaching and learning increases, we are developing action research to share good practice and give other teachers and parents the opportunity to learn from the experience of others, just what they can do.
Another benefit is that after mastering NLP techniques, teachers can get students to learn and retain the material at a quicker pace by almost 75% including with students that have cognitive issues that they were not born with that may be just learned behavior.
Instead of students spending a few years finishing a class, they may be able to finish it in 7 months, which would make parents very happy, wouldnt you agree?

Some of the negative learned behavior we see in many students:
Like staring out the window daydreaming
Students no longer have to be unmotivated in school--they can be motivated with their own natural motivation strategies.
They no longer have to be dis-interested by certain subjects--they can learn the structure of interest and apply it to any subject.
They no longer have to not know how to learn--they can learn world class learning strategies for ALL academic tasks.
They no longer have to be traumatized by bad test scores--they can learn to accept feedback for improvement purposes rather than feel like a failure.
They no longer have to be labeled as having a learning disability--we can figure out how their mind works differently and teach them how to use their mind in school in a way that really works.
NLP gives us the technology to elicit all of these learning patterns and codify them and teach them to others.
NLP gives us the technology to find out,
AT THE PROCESS LEVEL, how any student is blocking his or her self and to figure out how to help them.
NLP offers us the magnificent opportunity to positively affect childrensâ lives forever by working with NLP in the school systems.

Now youre a smart person in the field of education I presume, so let us say that we put the power into your hands.
Probably the easiest and most succinct way to explain the application of NLP in education is through the use the skills of NLP modeling and the use of Logical Levels of experience.
So when you are working with a student who is struggling in school, and use your NLP modeling skills to elicit the subjective experience of the student--logical level by logical level.
If you will recall, logical levels of experience are:
Spiritual/Greater System;
Identity; Beliefs/Values;
Capability; Behavior; and Environment.
Logical levels can be detected by the language patterns of the student.
So, for example, if a student is complaining about his or her spelling lessons, it would sound like the following depending upon which level the student was focusing.
Logical Level Statement
Spiritual/Greater System
"The school is dumb for making us learn spelling words."
Identity "I am stupid."
Beliefs/Values "Learning spelling words is stupid."
Capability "I don't know how to learn my spelling words."
Behavior "Should I write my spelling words 5 or 10 times?"
Environment "The classroom is too noisy."
So, as the student is describing his or her school struggles, you are listening through the logical levels template to discern at which levels the issues are.
Once you determine that, then you use the NLP modeling skills to determine more specifically what the subjective experience is that needs adjusting.
What we found with many students who struggle is a large void at the capability level.
The void is there because most schools and teachers presuppose that students know how to learn academic subjects.
The students are left on their own to figure out HOW TO LEARN.
A large number come up with learning strategies that don't work or they are inefficient and ineffective. Since we presuppose that they know how to learn we dont offer alternative ways and they keep doing what they have always done and keep getting the same bad results.
As you know the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over again, expecting different results.
Many take this personally and assume something is wrong with themselves.
They start to devalue learning and school. Or, they move it to the identity level and start to believe that they are dumb or a bad student.
We know how to positively affect attitude at the value level.
We also know how to change beliefs at the top three logical levels.
The changes are swift and transforming. It clearly fits the old cliche "Give a man a fish and you have fed him for a day.
Teach him how to fish and you have fed him for the rest of his life."
Now that is something that you can understand correct?
So lets say you have a special education department with students with disabilities.
The NLP modeling skills offers the very precise tools that are needed to figure out the different style of subjective experience of this group of students.
Many times the difference is at the capability level in the form of thinking or learning strategies.
Much of the time the only thing that is needed is the addition or deletion of a simple step in their learning strategy.
Once the step is dealt with, learning can occur.
Now lets say your student has Dyslexia.
In this learning disability, one of the complaints is that the student will not be able to discern the difference between a b and d, or a 6 or 9 or a p or q, as examples.
What we found is that many of them not connecting the sound of the letter or number with the image. When somebody would say "Draw me a b" the sound did not pull up the image for the student to copy. It is a simple matter to teach the student to connect the sound to an image now that we know what is needed.
Another example was with a young student who was having a difficult time learning to read.
The student also had been diagnosed with several disabilities including Dyslexia.
The parents' complaint was that they would read with him every night and when he would hit a word he did not know they would pronounce it for him.
But then 2-3 paragraphs later he would not be able to recognize the same word.
As they demonstrated this to us, it became very apparent what was causing the problem.
For most students, when they are learning to read new words, they will look AT THE WORD as they pronounce it.
This connects the image to the sound.
What the child did was watch his fathers mouth as he pronounced the word.
He wanted to make sure that he pronounced it right so he would watch his father's mouth and imitate the mouth movement.
This obviously would not connect the image to the sound and he would not be able to recognize the word later on.
Again, the solution was very easy to teach to the young boy and his parents.
Those in the practice of schooling invest a lot of energy and exertion in guessing ABOUT training and make tracks in an opposite direction from the real learning procedure.
They heap words upon words, greater words upon greater words and cover what needs to occur in the emotional experience of understudies all together for fruitful figuring out how to happen.
These hypotheses sound great, and are required, yet don't convert without hesitation at the level where help is required - at the abstract experience level.
Fortunately NLP works at the abstract experience level.
THAT IS The thing that professionals of NLP do!
