Nice day for a paddle at Sandy River. Saw the usual suspects... Blue and Green Heron's...Ospreys ...White Water Lilies Blooming in many sections of the Lake/River

Yesterday Gibbs and I paddled 8 miles of Nanjemoy Creek, tidal tributary of the Potomac River. We spotted upwards of 7 Adult Bald Eagles and 4-5 Juveniles. Saw to active Eagles nests and 2 active Osprey nests. It was a perfect day and we had the Creek all to ourslves. Just the slience, the rhythm of the paddle strokes,occasional cry of the Eagles and Osprey. I can't explain the thrill of seeing these great Raptors in the wild!!! Why anyone would want to posion them is beyond me

Grays Creek is a tributary of The James River directly across from Jamestown Island. It has very little development along it shores and home to several nesting Bald Eagles.

Short 6 mile paddle on our favorite body of water in Virginia

Gibbs and I visited one of our favorite places to paddle... about an hour south of C'Ville is Sandy Creek River/Reservoir. Great place for seeing Raptors ( Ospreys ...Hawks and Eagles) and Great Blue Herons. Been keeping track of a Nesting Pair of Bald Eagles for the past 5 years...sadly today the nest showed no activity.. Hope they setup a new site and we didn't lose this nesting pair.

The original plan was for Gibbs and I to do 1/2 of a 7 mile paddle ( out 3.5, back 3.5) of a very remote section of the Chickahominy River. That plan was foiled in the 1st mile, when after working our way through several down trees making passage difficult but not impassable , we came to a total stop at two very large Oak trees blocking the entire river. So went back to put-in and opted for favorite location on the Chickahominy River about 4 miles down river. I have yet to paddle this River and not see Bald Eagles, Osprey, and Great Blue Herons... "The Usual Suspects" ....
