Northstar Offroad sponsored racers see improved results from Round 1 to Round 2 of the D23 Harescramble series:
Minnesota's flagship offroad series, The D23 Harescramble Championship, kicked off with a bang with back-to-back races 5/4 and 5/11. Both races featured very soft soil that developed extreme ruts with many bumps and deep holes in part due to a long winter with above average April moisture. Both races attracted large turnouts, over 160 people raced the 2 hour afternoon race at each round. Nate Ferderer made a change from a Husqvarna TC250R to a GasGas XC300 with the help of GasGas Motos North America, GoFasters, Bel-Ray Company, Inc., Checkpoint Off-Road, Moose Racing, and Oscar Grizzi. Nate adjusted to the open class two stroke quickly and put in a solid 2nd overall finish at Cambridge and 1st overall at Millville which puts him in a tight points battle with Kyle Nelson and Dylan Debel. Fellow AA racer Luke Wilder had to battle from behind at each race due to having to pit and repair brake problems. Luke pushed hard to make up time and finished 10th and 11th, he is looking forward to round 3 on 6/8 to better his results. Bel-Ray, Royal Purple, TEJAS MOTORSPORTS backed Mitch Watson switched to a Yamaha YZ250F this year and is competing in the stacked 250A class. The 250A class is the premier A-class this year, the top 3 overall A at each round have been 250A racers. Mitch put in consistent 7-5 results and is working hard to mix it up with the front runners. 2013 250B champion Colton Koster took his CRF250R to the 250A class and is adjusting to the stiff competition. Koster improved from 14th to 7th and is going to ride that momentum into the rest of the series. Northstar supported Jack Lane is currently rehabilitating an injury and is planning to make a return to racing shortly.
