Explore the world of Legendary sailor, Skip Novak’s, Pelagic Yachts’ sails, as we delve into our hi-tech expedition series.
The Pelagic Boats are designed to withstand some of the harshest conditions. Since these yachts are primarily sail-powered rather than motor-driven, we use high-quality UV-resistant materials, extensive chafe protection, and oversized patching as standard features to ensure maximum durability and performance.

Allyssa van Rensburg | 19
Role: The Boss Lady (Halyards/Piano)
Allyssa is the face behind the Ullman Sails Social Media pages, this week she has control of Ullman Sails South Africa’s pages, so watch this space for updates throughout the week.
Allyssa moved to Cape Town to work for Ullman Sails International in June this year. Allyssa grew up sailing on the Vaal Dam, she has competed in numerous long-distance races, national and provincial championships on smaller keelboats securing a number of podium finishes.
Recently, Allyssa sailed in the J22 Nationals on the Vaal Dam, with, Dominique Provoyeur, Heidi Burger, and Robyn Patrick and finished with an esteemed 4th place overall and the First Women’s boat in the fleet.
This isn’t Allyssa first time sailing under the Ullman Brand as she previously raced in the 2022 J22 World Championships in Durban with an all-women crew, sponsored by Ullman Sails. This team included Petro Spies, who is also sailing Lipton on the SPYC boat, PhatAss.
Allyssa is on halyards/piano this week. She got ‘The Boss Lady’ as it seems all she does is make sure the team has all the right stuff and is in the right place when they’re needed.
Alongside Bryan, Matthew, Amir, and Matthew, this will also be her Lipton Debut.

Great news from Romania🇷🇴
In a remarkable display of sailing prowess, the Beneteau First 35 OPS, owned and operated by Redlotus Sailing, clinched the A2 division title at the Best of Summer Regatta. This victory was particularly significant as it marked the first competitive outing for OPS with its brand-new sails from Ullman Sails. This was OPS' first podium of the season. �
The Best of Summer regatta, known for its challenging conditions and competitive fleet, provided the perfect backdrop for OPS to showcase the performance enhancements afforded by the new sails. The team from Red Lotus Sailing School was led by seasoned sailors. Navigated the course with precision and speed, demonstrating the exceptional quality and craftsmanship of Ullman Sails.�
The new sails played a crucial role in OPS's victory. Ullman Sails, renowned for their innovation and quality, provided a significant boost in performance, allowing OPS to maintain optimal speed and control in tough conditions throughout the race. The 7th 48° North/Ullman Sails Cruising Rally kicked off yesterday for the next 4 days⛵️
Here's a little bit about the rally from Chuck Skewes, co-leader of the rally and the Ullman Sails San Diego & Pacific Northwest Licensee.
The premise of the rally is to get people that own boats already to expand the experience of their boats by guiding them to new locations off the beaten path.
We encourage anchoring rather than docks and marinas, we have small clinics on sail trimming, anchoring, and general navigation.
Each morning, we have a tide and weather brief and go over suggested routes to the next location📍
This year we are heading straight into the Canadian Gulf Islands and will clear customs the first day and do a day hike the next afternoon. Then off to some small islands north of the boarder🇨🇦
Afterwards many of the rally goers head off on their own or return home.

Seas & Summits, Sophie & Chris, embark on a two-month journey with the famous Skip Novak aboard his expedition yacht ‘Pelagic’ through the Artic. The journey will start from Ilulissat and sail north along the Greenland’s West coast to Uppernavik. Following the sea ice edge down Baffin Islands coast to Iqaluit. Here they will set afoot on their three week climbing expedition before, sailing back to Thomaston, USA. This is truly an incredible journey to follow.
