Route 66 - Williams, AZ Located just an hour south of the Grand Canyon South Rim and is known as the “Gateway to the Grand Canyon” It also has the best preserved section of Route 66 as the town's Main Street, which gives you a clear idea of what it was like back in its heyday during the 1950s.

Route 66 - Meteor City, AZ Despite the name, Meteor City was never the name of a town, but rather, it was a trading post. The Meteor City Trading Post, named in honor of the nearby Meteor or Barringer Crater. It was formed over 50,000 years ago. Astronauts trained at the crater several times throughout the Apollo program, from 1964 through 1971.

Route 66 - Arizona. I traveled this historic road from Oatman to Winslow. First stop is Oatman. Oatman is a tiny abandoned gold mining town now occupied by more burrows than people. The burrows were left behind by the miners.
