PM Vist to Thailand!

Hon’ble Prime Minister’s first day in Bangkok, Thailand, is in full swing!

On the two MoUs:

1. Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for academic cooperation and exchange of faculty members has been signed between the Khesar Gyalpo University of Medical Sciences of Bhutan (KGUMSB) and the Department of Medical Services, Ministry of Public Health, Thailand. The purpose of this MoU is to develop cooperative activities in the area of education and research in the field of gastrointestinal endoscopy, and facilitate exchange of medical doctors and nurses between the two institutions.


2. Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of tourism has been signed between the Department of Tourism (DoTr), Royal Government of Bhutan, and the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and the Designated Areas for Sustainable Tourism Administration (DASTA), Royal Thai Government. Under this MoU, the DoTr and TAT will explore and implement activities to promote tourism between Thailand and Bhutan under the theme ‘Two Kingdoms, One Destination’.

Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay will make an official visit to the Kingdom of Thailand from 25 to 28 June 2024 at the invitation of Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand, Srettha Thavisin.

The Prime Minister will be accompanied by his spouse, Tashi Doma; D.N. Dhungyel, Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade; Tshering, Minister for Home Affairs, and other senior officials of the Royal Government of Bhutan.

During the visit, the Prime Minister will receive a Royal Audience from Their Majesties The King and Queen of Thailand, meet Prime Minister Thavisin; and senior leaders of the Royal Thai Government. Discussions during these meetings will focus on matters of mutual interest including development of tourism cooperation, trade enhancement, on the ongoing Free Trade Negotiations, and sports cooperation between the two nations. The Prime Minister will give a talk on “Enlightened Leadership” at Chulalongkorn University and host a reception for Thai tour operators, travel agents and airlines for the promotion of tourism in Bhutan.

The visit is in keeping with the long standing bilateral relationship between the two countries and will further strengthen the close relationship and partnership between the two countries.
