"Most of the [Indigenous mission residents] have the faculty of knowing how to play, some on a guitar, others on a violin, and others on a harp. They all have pleasing voices and Sundays, the nineteenth day, and the feast days of Christ and the Most Holy Mary they draw out their rosaries, sing four parts, soprano, alto, tenor and bass, with their corresponding instruments so that it is a pleasure to hear them. "

Written by the visiting priest Fr. Solis on April 4th, 1768 from "The Expedition of Father Gaspar Jose de Solis into Texas, 1767-1768"
