Heidelberg, Germany is wonderful town to see! The Heidelberg Castle was amazing and the stories behind it. Check out the huge wine barrel. Back in the day when it was occupied, people would pay their taxes with wine that was created on the land. Story tellers say that the residents became wise and started watering it down as well.
The view is the Old Town Heidelberg. A fun plaza with food and shops galore! The buildings now are part of the local university.

Yesterday was all about cruising and castles! We were on the Rhine River sailing into Germany and the views of the many castles was just incredible. We had commentary about the castles from our wonderful cruise director Tabea. The pics here are nice but nothing like seeing them firsthand!!
Next stop on our Avalon river cruise was Cologne Germany! What a fun place that is lively and lots to see. But the star of the show is the Cologne Cathedral. It is an amazing site to see! We toured it and then had to sample the local beer!

We toured this incredible marvel today! Muiden Castle is a castle in the Netherlands, located at the mouth of the Vecht river, some 15 kilometers southeast of Amsterdam, in Muiden, where it flows into what used to be the Zuiderzee. It is one of the better known castles in the Netherlands and featured in many television shows set in the Middle Ages.
