Everything is set for our trip to Greece April 12-19, 2015! I'm still working on a flyer with all the details, but the itinerary is set and the contracts are signed. Here are the essetials:
Dates: April 12 to April 19, 2015
Cost: 1090 Euro per person double occupancy (approx $1475 at today's exchange rate) or 1470 Euro single occupancy (~$1,990).
Includes: 7 nights deluxe hotels (3 nights Electra Palace in Athens, 1 night Best Western Europa in Olympia, 2 nights Amalia Hotel in Nauplia, 1 night Divani Apollon Hotel and Spa on the coast near Athens) 5 dinners, 7 breakfasts, all tours and transfers as listed in itinerary with an top rated bilingual (English/Greek) guide.
Detailed Itinerary:
Sunday April 12: Individual arrivals at Athens International Airport. Travelers will be greeted in the terminal by a driver and transferred to the Electra Palace Hotel which will be our oasis in Athens for three nights. This five star hotel is located in within walking distance of all the major attractions in the heart of Athens. (Airport transfer included)
Monday April 13: Meet our outstanding bilingual tour guide Diana who is eager to share the rich history and culture of her homeland during our week in Greece. This morning, Diana will lead us on a city tour of Athens including the Acropolis, the Old Olympic Stadium and the Temple of Zeus. In the evening, join us for a gala welcome dinner and Greek folklore show. (Breakfast, Dinner included)
Tuesday, April 14: In the morning, join us for a leisurely walking tour of Plaka and the Acropolis Museum. Free time in the afternoon and evening to relax or enjoy more of the sights of Athens. In the afternoon, the Scrabble(R) tournament begins. (Breakfast included)
Wednesday, April 15: This morning, we leave Athens for a scenic drive to the Peloponnese Peninsula. First, we visit Corinth and its historic canal that separates the peninsula from the Greek mainland. Next, we take a scenic drive along the coast, visiting Patras en route to Ancient Olympia, birthplace of both the ancient and modern Olympic Games. We will tour the historic sites of Ancient Olympia and the museum before checking in to the Best Western Europa Hotel. (Breakfast, Dinner included)
Thursday, April 16: This morning, after a scenic drive through the Peloponnese hills, we visit Mycenae with a tour of the royal tomb and treasury of Atreus and the palace. Continue to the charming seaside town of Nauplia and the beautiful Amalia Hotel which will be our home for two nights. (Breakfast, Dinner included)
Friday, April 17: In the morning, tour the ancient healing sanctuary of Asculapius and the well preserved ancient theater of Epidaurus, built for 14,000 spectators in the 4th century BC. Free time in the afternoon to relax or explore. Scrabble tournament continues in the late afternoon. (Breakfast, Dinner included)
Saturday, April 18: In the morning, we again visit Corinth for a brief stop at the spot where St. Paul first preached Christianity in 51 AD. Continue to the seaside resort of Vouliagmeni, the "Riviera of Athens" where we will arrive in the early afternoon to the five star Divani Apollon Palace and Spa. Free time to relax and enjoy our beautiful hotel and spa. Scrabble tournament concludes in the late afternoon. Join the rest of the group for a gala farewell dinner at the Garbi restaurant with the sun setting over the sea. (Breakfast, Dinner included)
Sunday, April 19: Say goodbye to Greece or extend your stay with extra nights or an optional four night cruise of the Greek Islands. (Breakfast and transfers to Athens International Airport included)
