It's winter, and Sweden is covered in beautiful snow. It's months and months since we last drove the tour together and we are all beginning to dream of the offroad summer 2024, Swedish nature and the best company. Peter Öjerskog was a pioneer for Swedish offroad, and will be missed by many.
He did much for offroad in Sweden by making it available for everybody through motor and 4x4 journalism. Starting terrain touring in 1991 and four years later Sweden Offroad Tour, the adventure to the Midnight sun in the North.

Thousands of people have had the opportunity to try offroad thanks to Öjerskog. Lots of us are still driving years later, after attending our first offroad meets arranged by him.

Frida och Peter övertar Sweden Offroad Tour.

Frida Ericsson och hennes partner Peter Larsson övertar Sweden Offroad Tour från och med nu. Frida ledde SOT under andra pandemiåret och även i somras tillsammans med Peter Larsson.

Frida leder SOT bättre än jag och ni kommer att få se förbättringar.

Efter 28 härliga år vill Peter Öjerskog tacka alla markägare, klubbar, medarrangörer, sponsorer, mediepartners, matleverantörer och alla 10.000 deltagare.

22 september fyller jag 70 år. Åldern tar ut sin rätt. Men Sweden Offroad Tour lever vidare!

Lots of records on SOT 2023
There were lots of records on 28:th Sweden Offroad Tour 7-23.7 2023, led by Frida. Half of the 17 SOT places set new participants records, especially in Skåne and Dalarna.

Driving all the way, all the days is a mighty achievement. You and your car need to stand for the pressure. You can drive smart, don't get too carried away with the driving, and by that avoid unscheduled repair and maintenance out in the trails.

The side of the tour that not too many think much about is that you are away for 17 days and moving camp every night. If you live in your car, have a roof tent, caravan or camper it's still limited space and lots of things with you. Packing up, make dinner, sleep and repeat 17 times. It takes some planning before you leave, and then you will inevitably still learn and finetune as you go.

This is a journey where you meet friends for life. The community between like minded, forged by getting through (impossible?) obstacles in the trails, getting lost, finding your way, chatting on the CB radio between the locations, and then cooking and eating a late meal together while sharing stories.

Nyköping Svansta Motor Stadium - Day 17

We had a great day at the last stop of the tour! Nyköping has not been included on SOT for a while so it was the first time at this location for the majority of our participants.

It's a nice feeling, driving in totally unknown trails, not really knowing what obstacles to come and to be allowed to get a bit lost and take a break from the outside world. In beautiful sunny weather and with great friends it's a day well spent.

In total 21 vehicles driving, enjoying both the slow pace 4x4 style in the enduro trails or flying on the cross track with UTV. The forest is a cosy mix of embracing firs and partly bare rock faces plus the gravel trails in between. It looks narrow, but on a quite dry day like this it's amazing to see large cars navigating gracefully in between the obstacles. The rocks also gave the possibility to go around, finding alternative routes where needed.

Strängnäs Sandlycke - Day 16

Compared to earlier years it was a bit dry in the trails but just as fun! The area is 2 km long, including forest trails, a power line covered in high grass and mudpits.

It's a perfect area for beginners new to offroad, testing how the car behaves in steep tilts, back/forward or sideways. It's also perfect for mudders, some pits deep enough to put goofy smiles of satisfaction on our faces and other pits are questionable undrivable as noone went through this time either..

Today we had 26 veichles with us, it was a beautiful weather and a good drive in great company. Tomorrow we are driving in Nyköping, hope to see you here!

Uppsala Rörken - Day 15

If there is any that has space to drive it's Rörken, two sections ("berget" and "gocart) were open for driving which gave us almost 50 acres to run free on.

There are a lot of trails to choose between if you prefer trails, or you can also find your own way of navigating the terrain freely. Over the last week it has been raining changing the really dry ground to much more challenging. Trails were muddy, stones slippery and moss covered stones another level. It's a great area, mixed terrain with something for everyone.

It was a small group going out, 17 vehicles, and everyone got to drive until they had enough as driving was open until 10 pm. Next we are driving in Strängnäs, hope to see you there!

Hedemora SMK Motorstadium - Day 14

Wow, what a beautiful location for a driving area. Placed in a valley, with trails up and down the hills under a mixed leaf and fir cover.

This year is not the same location as the previous years even if close, just the other side of Hedemora. The new area was prepared just as good with trails clearly marked: green, yellow and black. The green (aka E4), went through the whole area, allowing you to choose if and when to go on harder or rough obstacles which made it easy to go in groups.

In the morning all drivers new to the location went out as a convoy, driving the E4 to get a understanding of the area. The trails that it is much sand and gravel in steep and side tilts was dry and gave a great grip to drive. After lunch we had some rain and the conditions was directly something else, tires slipping and cars winching where they earlier drove easily.

The club had prepared for a lottery where AD bildelar sponsored with three great prizes. A modest 27 cars registers for the day, but we can't wait to come back to this location. For nature and offroad combined this is really one of the great ones.

Säter Aspnäsvanan - Day 13

Säter is a really versitle driving area including forest trails, a technical obstacle course, motor cross tracks and water passages. The old motor cross trail beeing the favorit for many, enjoying the challenge in finding different ways and directions to climb the steep slopes.

40 cars and ATVs registered. As yesterday this is more drivers than on the same locations last year. And also it's been a really good mix of both local drivers and the groups that has been driving with us for some days.

It have been some rain over the last days so the ground was not to dry, and it was defiently challenge added by the mud layer covering the trails.

Tomorrow we drive in Hedemora, note that it's not the same location as last year - we are back at the SMK Motorstadium next to rout 70. Hope to see you here!

Ludvika Björnhyttan - Day 12

We all had a great time our first day in Dalarna enjoying driving in good weather, with some rain late in the afternoon. 34 cars joined, setting out in the trails divided in groups. One group started a bit easier and another that wanted to go for the toughest challenges directly.

A day in Ludvika requires drivers to be awake and in the moment. It's beautiful scenery and excellent offroading, but the forest hills going up and down can be compared to the offroad version of a cobblestone road. All surfaces filled with rocks in various sizes and with the twist that you need to map out how to criscross the right pattern on that surface for your car.

Kumla Brändåsen - Day 11

And the rain finally caught up with us, drivers meeting held in between downpours and the best dressed for the day was the ATV drivers in full suits.

As it rained heavily both yesterday evening and during the day everything is extra.. Mudpits are extra deep, hills feel longer and all the rocks are extra slippery. Extra challenge, extra fun!

It was a good mix of cars and ATVs, a lot of new people joining in Kumla. In total 26 cars and ATVs. Kumla is one of the smaller areas in acres, but the woods are completely full of trails with different challenges that kept us busy.

SOT was visited by "Bilkåren", who explained about their purpose, that they train drivers and went out on the trails with their military style truck.

Transport day - Day 10

What an adventure on the roads. Set out to have an easy scenic route with some sights along the road, it was a mostly really relaxing and cosy afternoon.

The first part was a nice, twisty, smaller tarmack road. Then we entered the military area, and got to see some glimpse of what offroad terrain they have, as their trails connected to the road we were traveling. This is where we ran into a few roadblocks. A lot of roads were not allowed for civilians, so we spent quite some time navigating the gravel roads until we got back on track.

The last section was a really nice forest road, big old trees towering high over us. And one tree was actually blocking the road which we had to vinsch to clear our route forward.

About 10 cars in the convoy, some of them with trailers, and most of us connected over the cb radio. All enjoying the Swedish nature away from the highway. Tonight we have set camp in Kumla, hope to see you here tomorrow.

Oskarshamn Greppek part II - Day 9

The second day and what a treat! The rock climbing is something extra when you have the whole day to spend, you can spend an hour on the same rock finding every possible (an impossible) angle to get that perfect climb.

Get lost, the area is actualy large enough that on the second day straight you still haven't leart to find your way. As our Danish friends say "we may get lost, but not stuck" perfectly sums up the day.

Some drivers went home yesterday, and some new joined but all together it was a smaller group driving today. Everyone here enjoying the drive fully.

Tomorrow we have a day off from offroading, but for those who wants we will drive as a group the last bit to Kumla on a rout less traveled, more scenic and enjoyable.

Tonight we enjoy another calm night, cooking out and taking advantage of the cosy fire pit provided by the club. Big thanks to Solkustens AWD for this two day stay.

Oskarshamn Greppek - Day 8

47 acres of pure joy! What an amazing day, the grip on the rocks in Oskarshamn was just unbelievable. Drivers saying that they have driven where they earlier thought it should be impossible, concuring obstacles one by one.

Tonight we are staying put, camp is already set since yesterday so tonight we are relaxing. Or if preferred, taking another drive in the trails is also allowed.

The first of two days gattered 37 cars and ATVs. Hope to see you tomorrow!

Värnamo Ulås - Day 7


We had a bit of unstable weather today, some rain in the morning but mostly just cloudy and still warm. The trails were muddy which added a bit of challenge. The club had prepared two new trails, one easy and the other harder. But most loved was still the classic mud pits next to the kiosk.

The happiest of all participants today was our new friend from Germany, who finally found a driving area that allowed his large Unimog. In total there were 43 cars and ATVs registered.

SOT weekend at Oskarshamn is a two day event, Friday and Saturday. One day 300kr, or 500kr for both days. The local club will be serving lunch both days. On the Friday we can already say that it will be the calssic Swedish 'Kroppkakor' on the menu. The kiosk will be open, offering sodas and som candy. We can also use the bbq in the windshield, a perfect place to get to know new friends after the drive.

For Sunday, as we will not be driving in Olerum we will have a simpler convoy through scenic route to reach our destination Kumla together. We will be using the map already provided earlier, but starting from Norsholm Cirkle K gas station at 1 PM.

Växjö Bergunda - Day 6

Today the rain caught up with us. We have been enjoying the sun until now but in Växjö the rain started falling shortly after the drivers meeting and continued throughout the day.

This actually created a great day for us who were there. Driving the trails with treebranches above the cars, heavy and green from the rain, was wonderful together with the drip drop of rain on the car roof. The rocks ofcause was a bit more challenging than the previous days, but there were still plenty of trails that still are easy on the cars.

Today we had 47 cars, that's about 10 fewer cars then last year but still a great result considering the rain. Also a big thanks to Mat Magnus for spoiling us with excellent lunches the last two days.

Karlshamn Paradiset - Day 5

It's always such a great day driving in this area, the leaf forest is just something extra. Truely magic. Again we had luck and got a great offroad weather, sunny in the day and some rain the night before that made the mud pits just perfect.

Just slightly less participants this year compared to the last, with 60 registers vehicles. Really fun with the local lottery where one participant got a gift card from Offroad Auto Parts.

Unfortunately SOT Olerum is cancelled this year, we have been hoping for more rain but as it is the risk is just too high with the forest being so dry.

However we will still be able to both drive offroad and have two nights in one location as SOT Oskarshamn will be extended - Friday to Saturday! For Sunday we are planning for a greenlaning up to Kumla.

Vånga Gravel pit - Day 4

It might be a bit smaller area, but entertaining and the best place to spend a Monday. Long steep slopes in abundance, and they are all in sand. That's a challenge that some love and others fear for the height.

It's also a perfect place for beginners, the sand is nicer to the vehicles then then slippery rocks. It's also extra great as Maskin & Fritid had CF Moto demo machines with them for interest in testing in a real offroad environment.

Extra fun to see the overlanding concept meet the offroading, with both camper and car plus trailer out in the trails with us.

We were expecting rain in the afternoon, but we were spared that and blessed with a tad cooler weather than yesterday. Again we had a great number of participants, 55 cars and ATVs which is about the same number as here last year.

Hässleholm Mölleröd - Day 3.

If we thought it was warm weather in Hästveda, we stand corrected - it was something extraordinary when standing in the sun today.

We welcomed quite a few new drivers, and in total it was 85 cars, exceeding last years numbers with more then 20 cars!

Hässleholm stands out in the calendar, offering both offroad and Greenlaning. The two fits really well together, and is a well appreciated addition for both drivers and passagers.

The new driving area was able to handle the number of cars surprisingly well, not to much ques or waiting for others to pass.

The raining over the last week or so had not added to much weather to the trails, its still really dry which made the offroad a little bit on the easier side.

Hästveda Sågbacken - Day 2.

What a day, the sun was burning hot and we had a great turnup. So good that we set a new record for Hästveda with 91 participants! This is really amazing, but as some said - It did not show in the trails so there is still room for more cars next time. 😉

Even though we had some rain over the last week it was still fairly dry trails with nice offroad possibilities. Hästveda is one of the locations that offers quite varied driving with many and long trails through cozy woods, stone filled slopes and some mud challenges. All mixed together is a recipe for a well spent day, with new and old friends.

Frida leads Sweden Offroad Tour 2023

Frida Ericsson will lead the whole Sweden Offroad Tour 2023. She did that in 2022 and did an excellent job. The reason Frida takes over from Peter Öjerskog is that Peter lost his driving license on the third day in Sweden. The police say he drives too wobbly on the road and is unsafe for himself and other road users. Peter has his driving license for 51 years and now the Swedish police thinks he is a bad driver.

Weak krona makes Sweden cheap

The Swedish currency krona, "crown", SEK, is now extremely weak, one of the weakest in the world, at least in Europe. That makes it cheap to have holiday in Sweden this summer - and take part in 28th Sweden Offroad Tour 7-23.7 2023. You get a lot of value for your country's currency, especially the EURO. The weak krona made us lower the fee for Sweden Offroad Tour per day/vehicle from 35 to 30 EURO five years ago. The Swedish fee is still 300 kronor/SEK after 28 years! We only accept cash on SOT, but we accept any currency. ATMs are always nearby.
