Nestled into the hillside of exclusive Belmont Estates, in the beautiful northwest end of Tortola, high above two of the most stunning beaches on the island, sits Villa Dulcinea. This newly constructed home offers expansive water views from each of its tastefully appointed rooms. Looking east one sees the curving, majestic coastline. In front of the house lie several miles of pristine Caribbean wa
ter and the island of Jost Van D**e. Towards the west one can see the Smugglers’ Bay cove and several other islands in the near distance. Three separate buildings comprise Villa Dulcinea, and look out over a broad unobstructed expanse of sea and islands. The main building houses the living room, dining area, two bedrooms, two and a half bathrooms and kitchen. A pool deck extends beyond this to the master bedroom building, containing two additional bedrooms. Under the carport is the East Wing, consisting of two extra rooms with 10’ ceilings that serve as media room and library. Their northward windows and French doors offer expansive views of the sea and Jost Van D**e, and the soft blue and gray toned furniture, including an ultrasuede pullout Queen couch with thick mattress, two soft swivel armchairs and two plush daybeds, is accented by colorful original and native art. All the structures are brilliant white, contrasted by periwinkle shutters. A shellstone staircase leads to the entrance courtyard. An eight foot meticulously crafted stone wall extends along the entire hillside border of the property. An enclosed stone and glass tile outdoor shower is tucked privately into the corner of the courtyard. All of the mahogany windows and doors in the house have been handcrafted by the island’s master woodworker and their distinctive rich handcrafted hardware has been imported from England. Original art work, including several pleasing abstract landscapes and seascapes, graces the walls. All rooms contain sensitive rheostat controlled lighting and elegant fixtures including chandeliers, wall sconces and lamps. The Great room features a soothing palette of blue and green for its ultrasuede furniture and French fabric pillows. Natural stone accents punctuate the marble floor tiles. The high peaked hardwood ceiling provides airy spaciousness. French doors, stained to enhance their natural mahogany beauty, extend across the front of the room. Beyond the doors is an inviting 25’ long balcony overlooking the brilliant Caribbean. All four bedrooms are large – approximately 14X16 feet each – and have unique personalities determined by the choice of art and linens. Each bedroom is air conditioned and features custom built wood closets and shelving. Each of the four ensuite bathrooms boasts its own combination of stone and colorful glass tiles highlighting the different vanities and sinks. Three of the bedrooms – the one on the main floor of the main building, and the two in the master bedroom building – are expanded visually tall peaked hardwood ceilings. The second bedroom is reached by walking down a marble tiled staircase. Dramatic views of the sea accent the north view from this room, and French doors allow easy access to a walkway that extends across the entire front of the house. The gourmet kitchen is entered from the west end of the Great room. This 20 foot long kitchen is flanked by custom built cabinets, pull out drawers and shelving, made of pale yellow stained maple hardwood, extending 9 ½ feet high and has limestone countertops and oversized stainless steel sink. Luxury appliances include a Viking gas stove and oven, large door Accent refrigerator and freezer, dishwasher, large built-in microwave and convection oven, and an array of blenders and mixers, chosen to satisfy the needs of even serious cooks. French doors open from the west end of the kitchen out to the covered porch area. This is where you will likely spend a large part of your vacation – eating meals at the table or at a stone bordered and covered bar area overlooking the pool, or reading quietly in one of the comfortable chairs. A deluxe gas grill is built into the arched stone wall just outside the kitchen door. The shellstone pool deck extends beyond the covered porch. The hillside of the 28’ X 14’ pool is bordered by the 8’ stone wall that extends along the entire southern side of the house; above the wall there is a wide array of natural indigenous plantings. The pool is a glass tile embedded jewel. A stone staircase can take you from the pool deck to the natural walkway that extends along the entire lower portion of the home. The heavy, arched front door of the master bedroom building opens to an accessory kitchen area, including nine foot high custom built cabinets, similar to those in the main kitchen, under counter refrigerator, wine cooler and coffee maker. The soft blue and green hues of the first bedroom you enter exude a Zen-like calm. The east windows offer views of the pool and main building. A soft cushioned day bed is adjacent to the queen bed. At the end of the accessory kitchen area just before the master bedroom suite a conveniently located washer and dryer are hidden behind latticed wooden doors. This bedroom, like the other one in the master building, is expanded vertically by the tall peaked ceilings, painted a crisp white. French doors open westward from the master bedroom to a stone patio with comfortable outdoor lounging furniture, surrounded by lush tropical vegetation, and northward to a balcony overlooking the sea and views of Jost Van D**e. The master bedroom features a large custom built walk in closet. The large master bathroom is ringed with beautiful natural stone on the walls, framing the double sinks and claw tub. The west end of the bathroom opens into a 5’ X 6’ outside stone shower with cut out window overlooking a dramatic sea view.
