The back office team [Petra in the main], worked their magic to find accommodation that suited our desires for luxury at a price we could afford. This wasn't straightforward and in the end needed a change of direction, so instead of finishing at Etosha, we started there. Our guide, Joram, was a lovely guy and he knew his subjects well. Update from the field- We spend the morning on safari near Brandberg with some awesome views of the desert-adapted Elephants.
This group of three Elephants, including a youngster, were relaxing in the shade, but this little one was definitely not in the mood for the morning nap and entertained us with its antics. Later, one of them enjoyed a dust bath before moving on through the beautiful Brandberg area.

Today is International Bird Day and we are celebrating with an update from our current Namibia, Botswana and Zambia birding tour.
We enjoyed some amazing views of the Dune Lark, Namibia's true endemic. We also added Curlew Sandpiper, Grey Plover, Black-necked Grebe, Chestnut-banded Plover, Lesser Flamingo and Terek Sandpiper to our list for the day.

Earlier this month, our safari group visited the Sesriem Canyon and found that the canyon had a bit of water in. An interesting find was the catfish swimming in some of the canyon pools; sharptooth Catfish to be precise!
