The Optimists are proud to collaborate with Sankofa Leadership Network, a strategic leadership organization that supports leaders and companies to build inclusive environments that yield more equitable outcomes. We’re partnering with their team to engage in team workshops and build our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion action plan.
They’ve also introduced us to organizations like ReConnectRondo, a project seeking to restore prosperity to the Rondo neighborhood in St. Paul, MN and to right past wrongs that systematically impacted African American residents. In honor of Black History Month, we’ve donated to their Land Bridge project. Check out these impactful organizations and the important work they’re leading.

Optimist Day is celebrated on the first Thursday of February and takes place on February 1 this year. The day focuses on building and sustaining a positive future.
Today, we celebrate our own team of Optimists. We recently gathered at the fabulous @1hotelnashville for our first annual team kick-off meeting. Although winter weather interrupted some of our plans, it was an inspiring and motivating weekend of team connection.
As we embark on the new year, we’re thrilled to channel our optimism and enthusiasm to uplift both our team and clients.

Building relationships through in-person connection is what I truly love about this business. Conferences, concerts, coffee dates - every meetup is so valuable and puts a smile on my face. What a fantastic year it has been, getting to connect with our amazing, growing team, wonderful clients, and fantastic vendor partners! Thank you all for a fab 2023 and cheers to a bright 2024 for all!

During this season, we’re filled with gratitude for our incredible partners. Hotels stand as a central focus for us, and when we encounter the exceptional ones, we want to celebrate them.
We’ve discovered two hotel treasures in the Midwest: the @Chicago Athletic Association and @Hotel Kansas City, both esteemed members of @Hyatt’s Unbound Collection.
Both previous athletic clubs have undergone remarkable transformations into extraordinary hotels. Showcasing historical architecture, gourmet dining, renowned speakeasies such as @milkroomchicago and @nighthawk_kc, along with vibrant late-night venues, they really have it all! ✨

There's no better time than the holiday season to give back to your community. At The Optimists, we donate our time and resources to organizations that make a difference in people's lives. One of our favorite traditions is participating in the WeCAN - Western Communities Action Network Adopt-a-Family program, which connects anonymous gift donors with local families who need a little boost this season, so everyone can have a brighter holiday! 🎄🎅
What organizations do you support this time of year?
Earlier this month, we had the honor of attending the inaugural The Conference: Live at Lititz The Conference: Live at Lititz in Pennsylvania for a fabulous three days of connection, camaraderie and conversation with friends and colleagues in the live entertainment industry.
Founders Charlie Hernandez, Jake Berry, Marty Hom and Stuart Ross, along with the team at Rock Lititz, did an incredible job with the development of this conference, themed "Leaving it better than we found it." With this message in mind throughout the event, the conference inspired us to do better — with content topics including mental health for roadies/event professionals, diversity and inclusion, mentorship and sustainability. A panel by Farm Aid and Just a Bunch of Roadies was a motivating reminder to help create positive impact wherever possible.
For us, this content truly hit home. Since our rebrand in 2021, The Optimists have made a commitment to making a positive impact in our world and investing in the wellness of our people. It is reaffirming to know the industry at large finds these principles important as well, and it is exciting to engage in these conversations with some of the greatest minds in the business.
Thank you CJMS and Rock Lititz for this inspiring event to round out a whirlwind year! We needed this.
We’re grateful to be part of this movement, and optimistic about a brighter future for the industry with this outlook of mindfulness at the center.

The Optimists is a brand, but it’s also an ethos. It’s a reminder to our team and our clients that we can create incredible things together when we lead with optimism.
"I’m obsessed with our new branding. It takes me back to my roots, my passion for exploring the world and making new friends while doing it. It excites me and reminds me why I started all of this — for connection and gratitude for the opportunity to experience the magic of travel." – Molly
The future of The Optimists is bright with this incredibly meaningful branding telling our story!
A big Optimists’ welcome and Happy Administrative Professionals Day to Colerena, who joined our team a couple of months ago. Colerena is a Minnesota native, and her family is from Liberia. In addition to her work for The Optimists, she’s enrolled at the University of Phoenix getting her business degree and has two kids (ages 7 and 4). When she's not faxing billing info and chasing hotel folios, she enjoys sewing, beading, cooking & reading.
Colerena is invaluable in keeping all the fine details in order for our valued clients. We are so thankful for her and appreciate all the work she does to keep things running smoothly!

"There's something so special about a woman who dominates in a man's world. It takes a certain grace, strength, intelligence, fearlessness, and the nerve to never take no for an answer." - Rihanna 💜🤍💚

As we are all aching to get back to traveling and exploring, New York City is an excellent choice this summer!
New York is finally opening back up and lifting all restrictions! Even Broadway shows are expected to be back on in September! Travel and hotel costs are still relatively low, to entice and encourage tourism.
New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said it best, “This is going to be the summer of New York City. You’re going to see amazing activities, cultural activities coming back!”
We would love to help you plan the ultimate Big Apple getaway and make the most of this summer!🍎
Bali
Bali is one of the most unique and magical destinations, but can be overwhelming when trying to book a vacation there!
When booking a place to stay, consider forgoing the bigger hotels and resorts and opt for your own personal villa with a privacy wall and personal pool. We love the Ulin Villas and Spa in Seminyak. Not only is it perfectly located walking distance to lots of exciting shops and restaurants, but they will spoil you with a private chef cooking you breakfast next to your pool, evening massages and even an outdoor bathroom with a rose petal bath. The experience will make you feel like a celebrity at a fraction of what this experience would cost you anywhere else in the world!
Chicago 4th of July
The 4th of July in Chicago is always a celebration destination, but the day was set to be even more festive this year thanks to its designation as the date of the city's full reopening. Chicago ended up lifting most restrictions on June 11, making way for a holiday weekend that's more like the ones you remember - complete with crowded beaches, backyard cookouts and firework displays.
While many celebrations are taking place at reduced capacity (or are still being finalized), we've come up with plenty of ways to take advantage of the holiday weekend:
1. Explore Navy Pier
2. Take the Best in Chow Food Tour with Chicago Food Planet
3. Take a bike tour with Bobby's Bike Hike - Chicago Tours
4. Enjoy a classic Rainbow Cone at The Original Rainbow Cone
5. See Chicago from above Skydeck Chicago
6. Check out the world's largest rooftop bar Offshore Chicago
7. Experience the Grant Park Music Festival - free of charge and fun for the whole family
8. Watch the fireworks!!
Mexican Cenote
Discover one of Mexico's best secrets!
Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula has undeniably stunning beaches around Cancún, Playa Del Carmen and Tulum. But those who wish to cool off from the sun can escape to a secret underworld of turquoise pools where Mayans communicated with the gods.
At these hidden locations, you can swim in crisp mineral-rich waters in magical caves or under a jungle-framed sky and feel lost in another time.
