Day 37 # 🇺🇸🌨🌞
It was our last day today and the first bit of rain we've seen in nearly six weeks of our travels. We thought we'd spend our time before heading to the airport with a trip to Universal Studios. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter and the Back Lot tour my favourites. It was then car rental return and check in for our flight home to Brisbane

Day 35 # 🇺🇸 🌞
As I write this tonight the day goes from estastic to ending in agony😥
Today was a very early start with a 6am pick up for our trip to the Grand Canyon. We had a brief stop on the way at Hoover Dam to take pictures and have breakfast. Our tour was of the West Rim and Colorado River. We weighed in and watched the safety video before boarding the helicopter. OMG what an awesome ride down to the floor of the Canyon, a boat ride down the Colorado and the flight back to the rim. The views were just breathtaking. Our tour guide Jerry was a funny guy, so knowledgable. Arriving back at the hotel late in the afternoon we'd planned to head out again later to visit Freemont St or to take in more of the strip. We decided to give Freemont a miss as it was getting late and a good distance away, we were both tired from the day and eventually opted to just grab a bite to eat at the Hotel and stay in, probably the best decision of our trip. No long after 10pm we could hear sirens screaming from all over. The news reports came thick and fast of a shooting from Mandalay Bay Hotel at people at the Music concert across the street. First reports in it was 2 had passed away and 20 injured but as time went on the numbers kept growing. The scenes chaotic, people in shock not knowing what to do or where to go, responders coming from everywhere. The Hotels in the area in lockdown and some being searched as they weren't sure how many shooters. It's 2am and still the numbers grow, so tragic that people just enjoying the evening lose their lives like this. It's hard to believe thst it's just not a movie scene. I wish it was.

Day 36 #🇺🇸🌞
Leaving an unusually quiet Las Vegas today to make our way back to Los Angeles. Most of the strip was still blocked off when we left and very few people out on the street. I'm sure everyone is as shocked and in disbelief as us. So sad for all those lives lost and injured and their families. Were many on the interstate leaving Vegas and a very slow trip, we stopped at Yermo at another 50's style diner called Peggy Sue's, it was full of old movie memorabilia. Arrived late into LA, staying at a Days Inn in Glendale tonight.

Day 34 # 🇺🇸 🌞
It has been a very entertaining day today, this morning while having coffee people watching the ones just coming in after an all nighter and others just starting their day heading out. A bit like New York there is always something happening. We walked all morning up and down the strip, everything here takes on a whole new look in the daytime. We met up with the other DreamTrippers at the LINQ theatre to see Frank Marino's 'Diva's. They were hilarious and just a bit naughty. We walked down and watched the water fountain show at the 'Bellagio Hotel', it was so clever. We then walked as far down the strip as our legs could carry us tonight, we'll do the rest tomorrow night. There is so much entertainment here, something for everyone.

DreamTrip #2 Viva Las Vegas
We left Victorville fairly early to make our way to Vegas today. The landscape of desert 🌵 with Joshua Trees was a complete change of scenery from what we have seen in the past few weeks. A lot of nothing and all of a sudden a Casino or shopping outlets appear in the middle of nowhere. A wonderful country with so much to see. We arrived at the Venetian Hotel to find that our group had been upgraded to the Palazzo Towers... we do have the best travel club. This is another beautiful Hotel. Second largest hotel in the world with a combined 7000 rooms. We were able to get out and have a bit of a look on the strip before catching up with the other DreamTrippers from all over the world at the welcome reception.

Day 32 # 🇺🇸🌞
A nice morning in Brownsburg and the tricky business of repacking suitcases to fly to Los Angeles today. Checked in at Indianapolis Airport for our 5pm flight and even buying a new suitcase didn't help, too heavy and had to rearrange...oops! It was a four and a half hour flight to LAX, and after some confusion with our hire car made it out of LA very late, stopping at Victorville overnight and then on to Las Vegas tomorrow

A big drop in temperature today and much cooler day. I think I'm in Melbourne and not Indiana. We've had a very quiet day rest day today and just a spot of shopping.Bryan found a new truck he'd like and I found my Onsie (Stuart) to wear to a Volunteers day I'm going to in a few weeks.

Day #29 🇺🇸 🌞🌞🌞
This morning in Memphis was very hot and humid, it's the longest spell of over 38deg days they've had for many years. Certainly not the fall weather we were expecting, We we're so grateful for our air con on our very long drive from Memphis to French Lick in Indiana today. We crossed the Mississippi River and through three States, Arkansas, Missouri and Illinois before reaching West Baden Springs Hotel. It was recommended we visit here and I'm so pleased we could. This place has to be seen to be believed. An historical beauty built in 1902. If you ever visit Indiana put it on your bucket list, you won't be disappointed. The Atrium is 100ft high and 200ft across. The beautiful rooms, decor and everything about the hotel is amazing. We took a night shuttle ride around the property and over to nearby French Lick.

Day #28 🇺🇸🌞🌞
Today was hot and humid like a summer day back home around 38deg. Some people we spoke to today said it was so unusual for a Fall day to be this hot. We ventured out to Graceland, being a Sunday it was relatively quiet and we didn't have to compete with the crowds. Graceland is one side of the Boulevard and the Museum, Cars, Planes and other exhibits on the other side. The shuttle took us across to tour Elvis's home and grounds. It's very picturesque and the inside is something to see. There are literally thousands of articles of Elvis's and his family's lives on display. His wardrobe and costumes alone are massive. His huge car and motorbike collection. What we thought would take and hour or two turned into five. We finished the day off visiting the famous Beale St, I think it's very similar to Nashville and being the afternoon the action hadn't started but I'm sure it does once the sun goes down.

Day #27 🇺🇸 🌞🌞🎉
It was time to leave Nashville today, have loved our stay. The contrast of being sophisticated in so many parts of the city with museums and historic buildings and then the masses of H***y Tonk bars is amazing. On our way out of Nashville we stopped at Centennial Park to see the Replica of the Parthenon. It was meant to be a temporary for a Tennessee exposition in 1897 but the city decided kept it. It has been reconstructed over the years and is visited by thousands every month. We then visited Belle Meade Plantation. We were able to look through the Southern mansion that was built in 1807 and grounds that was once a famous thoroughbred horse stud. Sea Biscuit has a direct bloodline from this stud. Five generations had lived there until being bought by a historical society. We were then back on the road again and arrived in Memphis late afternoon. We checked into Quality Inn in a quieter part of town before heading for dinner at the Rock and Roll cafe near Graceland.

Day #26🇺🇸🌞🌞
Wow!! What a day - after a lovely breakfast we went downtown again on the Music 🎶 Shuttle from the hotel, lots of fun. We visited the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, it was huge covering 3 levels. I found it really interesting looking at artists and music through the ages. One exhibit we won't forget in a hurry and they won't forget us was the 'Smoky and the Bandit' exhibit. Leaning close to the glass surrounds to get a photo and oops 🙊 my phone falls inside the exhibit, a tad embarrassing. Once we found someone to retrieve it for us we could have a bit of a laugh about it. We visited a few more of Nashville's landmarks before getting the Shuttle back to the hotel. I was so excited to be going to the 'Grand Ole Opry' to see Reba McIntyre tonight, what an amazing show and Dolly Parton and Carrie Underwood appearing to surprise Reba for her 40th Anniversary at the Opry just topped the night.
It was a little hard getting photos in the Hall of Fame today due to the lighting and the glare.

Day #25 🇺🇸🌞🌞
Getting our country on today!
This morning we took the Hotel shuttle to downtown Nashville to take a look around. A very diverse city. We visited the Johnny Cash Museum, Ryman Auditorium- the original site of the 'Grand Ole Opry' and were able to see back stage. The streets we're alive with Music and entertainment everywhere you turned. Dancing on the bar in the Coyote Ugly Saloon- no not me. Tootsies Orchard Lounge and Nudies H***y Tonk, again not me, no there were no n**e people! We didn't see it after dark but I can only imagine.

Day 24 # 🇺🇸🌞🌥
I reluctantly left Dollywood today...delaying checkout until the very last minute...and walking very slowwwwly to the car, definitely needed more time there, maybe a girls trip..who's in?
Leaving Pigeon Forge we stopped at an American 50's Diner, best milkshake like I remember from my childhood with the icy milk...yummy
A terrific Muscle Car Show was on display nearby with over 90 to view and there were quite a few I would like to bring home. It was an enjoyable drive on interstate 40 with the changing scenery of the Appalachian Mountains. Fall is almost upon them here in the USA. We arrived in Nashville late afternoon and checked into The Quality Inn in Music Valley. It's very Central to Downtown and the interstates.
