Reflecting on the 4th Annual Rise Up Summit: Flowing Forward This year’s Rise Up Summit, held at the historic Black Beach, Von D. Mizell-Eula Johnson State Park, was an extraordinary day filled with connection, inspiration, and transformation. With the theme “Flowing Forward,” we focused on wellness, water safety, and community building, creating a powerful space to support the growth and empowerment of fathers, men, and boys.
It was a day of Black Boy Joy—frolicking in the sand, laughter echoing across the waves, and connections formed in ways that inspired hope and healing. Together, we created a space where fathers, men, and boys experienced life-saving lessons in water safety, hands-on career exposure to the Blue Economy, and opportunities to connect with law enforcement in uplifting, non-threatening interactions like building sandcastles, learning to surf with Streetwaves and Art Activities with Niki Lopez.
The Rise Up Summit was more than just an event—it was a movement, a day dedicated to creating a healthier ecosystem that supports positive male development. The energy, passion, and commitment from every vendor, supporter, and attendee reminded us why this work matters.
Collaborative Power: A heartfelt thank you to the Diversity in Aquatics team and all our vendors, supporters, and volunteers who helped curate such a transformative experience. Your commitment to fostering a healthier ecosystem for positive male development is truly inspiring.
As we reflect on this impactful day, we are reminded of the importance of creating spaces where fathers, men, and boys can learn, connect, and thrive. Let’s continue this work together. Connect with ISEE Group, the Fathers, Men & Boys Action Committee, Diversity in Aquatics, and our network of supporters to be part of this growing initiative. Together, we can create a healthier ecosystem that supports positive male development.
Today, November 19th, is International Men’s Day! Join us in honoring and celebrating the incredible contributions of men and boys to our families, communities, and the world. International Men’s Day is recognized in over 80 countries to highlight the positive value men bring to society while also raising awareness about the unique challenges they face. This year, we reflect on its core values: Promoting Positive Male Role Models, Recognizing Men’s Contributions to Family & Community, Improving Men’s Health and Well-being, Fostering Positive Gender Relations, Creating a Safer World for All.
