International Everest Day is celebrated on May 29 every year. This day is observed in memory of the first summit of Mount Everest by New Zealand’s Sir Edmund Hillary and Nepal's Tenzing Norgay Sherpa which took place on May 29, 1953. They climbed Mount Everest on this day. FeNCAA has decided to host an International Everest Day in all states and territories in Australia in respect of Sir Edmund Hillary and tensing Norgay Sherpa. It also aims to introduce Nepal to Australia and promote Nepal's mountain tourism.
