Japan Cycle Tours Personalized tours on two wheels to various regions of Japan. I’m convinced that the best way to visit and explore another culture is at the speed of a bicycle.

In my experience, cycling opens up instant opportunities to connect with ordinary people. I’ve toured many regions of Japan on my custom, high performance folding Bike Friday. I’ve ridden with Japanese cyclists in Tokyo, Karuizawa, Kyoto, Osaka, and other areas. In 2006 I started Japan Cycle Tours to offer personalized bicycle tours of Hokkaido, Tokyo, Mt. Fuji, Kyoto, Hiroshima, the Inland Sea,

and more. Having grown up in and lived in Japan for many years, I truly enjoy introducing others to Japan and sharing my insider’s perspective on the culture.

Our Story

Japan Cycle Tours was established in 2006 with the goal of offering personalized bicycle tours of Hokkaido, Tokyo, Mt. Fuji, Kyoto, Hiroshima, the Inland Sea, and more. We offer one tour a year for a small group of up to 10 participants, with an emphasis on experiencing and enjoying Japanese culture and people.

Why tour Japan by bike? The best way to visit and explore another culture is at the speed of a bicycle. Cycling opens up instant opportunities to connect with ordinary people. I’ve toured many regions of Japan including Tokyo, Karuizawa, Kyoto, Osaka, Iwate, Mt. Fuji region and Shikoku. I’ve also cycle-toured Taiwan, Thailand, Indonesia, South Korea, France, and Spain. And of course, the U.S.A. Having grown up in and lived in Japan for many years, I truly enjoy introducing others to Japan and sharing my insider’s perspective on the culture.
