In this video we explain why Exploring Japan by Rail is a good way to see and experience Japan.
Did you know that:
1. The Japan Rail Network covers much more of Japan than the shinkansen
network?
2. Most overseas visitors to travel only cover a small portion of Japan - The
so called "Golden Route"?
3. Japan being 80% mountains and rural areas, getting off the shinkansen
and travelling on conventional trains you will see a lot more of scenic
Japan and you open yourself up to many more places not served by the
shinkansen, which although popular with local tourists, many see very few
or no overseas visitors?
4. There are around 60 dedicated tourist trains ranging from sightseeing
trains, restaurant and cafe trains and themed trains which are a great way
to explore Japan!
5. TS Japan Rail can help you with travel ideas and planning!

At TS Japan Rail we are often telling people to get off the shinkansen...but in this post we show you some clips of the fast and colourful shinkansen on the Tohoku Shinkansen route, including that of JR East's new E8 series. The Tohoku Shinkansen also branches off on the Yamagata shinkansen, Akita Shinkansen and with some trains running through to the Hokkaido Shinkansen.
